As a former Division 1 collegiate player myself, I was in your shoes exactly 20 years ago. And it wasn’t until March of my senior year that I found my next home and family. It will all work itself out and if you are putting in the work to reach out to college coaches, it will pay off. So, after a collective deeeeeeep breath, let’s check out the 2024s that were rocking it at the Wisconsin Stock Up Showcase last weekend.
Bilitz makes a nice early release to the net when she knows it isn’t coming her way. She gets her feet to the ball, makes a nice high contact and gets the ball out of her hands quickly. Bilitz was moving the ball around to get all of her attackers involved. She is really fast and gets under the ball even if its a low pass she is getting hands on it. Bilitz also makes some really nice defensive moves.
Conner is a dynamic lefty that isn’t afraid to take an aggressive swing at the ball. She provides a solid first contact on defense and then made a smooth transition to be an attack option for her setter.
Davison has a lot of nice length that allows her to make a high contact point to work over opposing blockers. She works hard in transition and takes an aggressive approach to her setter.
Fitzgerald did a great job working with her setter to connect for a back 1 ball which is not an easy thing to do when you’ve just met the person. I liked her spacing, timing, and communication to get the job done. She also sets up a strong block and makes a really solid right side.
Highlights
Jasenovsky moves well during the play and puts herself in the best position possible to make plays. She moves with the set and covers her hitters while also anticipating the move to make the 2nd contact.
Nault steps in to play off blocker defense and reads the inside ball. She also adjusts well to an out of system play and doesn’t shy away from slicing the ball down the net to end the rally. Nault will also power through the block and use hands if put in a tight situation at the net.
Highlights
Vaughan does not shy away when a big block is put in front of her. She is aggressive and relentless on offense and defense. Vaughan was seen multiple times sprinting to chase down a stray pass and keep it in play. She creates nice angles with a strong platform in serve receive.
