Setters & Liberos From The Steeltown Classic

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 10th Annual Steeltown Classic High School Volleyball Tournament occurred on August 12th at A.B. Miller High School, co-hosted by Fontana High School. With the new school season getting in gear, it's an opportunity for all players, club or not to be seen and noticed. It's enjoyable to watch setters and liberoes play hand in hand together. Their speed, agility, and accuracy on the court help them get to the ball and provide the perfect pass or placement for their hitters. Below are some setters and liberos who stood out at the classic and deserve to be on the radar. She has soft hands by using a technique with her fingers that touches the ball and upon her release she maintains the balance that makes her contact appear flawless. Even in her setter position, she was not afraid to dig a ball or dive for a tip. Gianna was also up at the net to block the outside hitter. She is a go-getter on the court. She didn't hesitate to dive, arms extended to stop a ball from hitting the floor. Sanchez did great playing in the defensive position which requires good ball control. She was ready on serve receive and in position to recover tips. She was a firecracker on that court, digging, diving, covering tips, and popping up balls. It was fun watching her play. She played a significant part in defense by being in the right place at the right time to recover attacks. She has a solid platform that controls her passes. She is quick on the court, getting to the second ball. She was the main receiver of serves and was the second line of defense against kills. Her defense allowed her team to run a proper offense. Chloe did not hesitate to go after a ball to save it from scoring. She has great ball placement for her pins to capitalize on. Her sets have minimal to no ball spin. She kept the ball on her fingertips and pushed out smooth sets. Mangubat would get to passes that were off and still make a play. She has some nice sets that were on target from cross-court.  She was all over, getting the second touch to set her pins. She was also blocking on the right side. Ashlyn is a smart setter who needed to make quick decisions on the court. What was impressive about Hicks is her ability to set from anywhere on the court. She would get to a ball and could find the location for her pins to hit. Devin would spread the ball around to all her hitters, making her decision on who to go to unpredictable. She is fast to the ball and makes quick decisions on who to go to or if a setters dump is needed. She handled the responsibility of running her team's offense with confidence. She was ready to set the second ball after a pass or dig up. Being able to get to the second ball was important as it allowed her hitters to transition into offense. She also has a great serve. While watching her, she had around three serving aces in a row.  She is only a sophomore.
