Top Performers: Pool B Prospects At Rossville Tournament

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Rossville hosted a 10-team tournament on September 16.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I ended up scouting five total matches from the Pool B play.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here are six prospects from the three teams who did not finish in the top two to advance to the championship bracket out of Pool B.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='216391' first='Callie' last='Powell']</strong>, 5'10, OH, Abilene, ‘24</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Powell is a six-rotation player who isn't going to hurt you in any aspect of her game. She is a leader on the court and rallies her team especially if they get out of system. She filled up the stat sheet in a three-set loss to Tonganoxie with nine digs, four kills, and six serve receptions. She has already committed to ply for Kansas Wesleyan University after her graduation.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Campbell Stark, </strong>6'1”, MH, Osage City ‘24</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Stark has a strong upper body and is a solid blocker. In the two matches I scouted her she finished with a combined total of nine kills and two blocks. She has had conversations with college coaches but has yet to commit. She communicates well and directs the Indians' system.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='495624' first='Hannah' last='Schmitz']</strong>, 6'1” MH, Hayden, ‘24</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Schmitz played front-row only for the Wildcats, but her net skills will play at the next level. She has a big reach and jumps well for size and frame. She is really strong and can win one-on-one balls at the net because of her strength. She had four kills and one block in the match I scouted. She can play six rotations and has a nice net approach. She finished a match against Tonganoxie with 15 serve receptions, five digs, two aces, one block, and one kill. Her serve is accurate and hard. She might be better suited as a defensive specialist at the college level, but she has the skills to play college volleyball and two more seasons of high school and club ball to hone her skills.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='357548' first='Reese' last='Huscher']</strong>, 5'8” OH, Hayden, ‘26</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Wildcats have a young talent who is an all-out hustler. Huscher is a young talent who had a nice match against Tonganoxie. She had seven serve receptions, three digs, and two kills. She has a fluid quick swing and she can jump. It will be interesting to see how she evolves over the next couple of seasons and how Hayden decides to best utilize her skills.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Jewelia Kitselman</strong>, 5'10”, OH, Osage City ‘26</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Kitselman is just a sophomore, but the foundation is there to become a solid prospect. She moves well and anticipates tip plays well. She finished with nine digs, five kills, and eight serve receptions in the two matches I watched her play.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
