Marissa Baaso, Sr. L L’Anse Creuse North
The senior libero played an outstanding match last week, leading LCN to a key four-set win over Marysville. She tallied 29 digs over the four sets while adding in three aces as well. On the season, Baaso has 253 digs over 55 sets, but last Tuesday’s outing was by-far her best performance of the year. She set a season-high in digs and matched her season-high in aces.
Jackie Cole, Sr. L Crossroads Charter Academy
To stay Cole is a busy body in the back row is a bit of an understatement. Last week in a four-set match with Brethren, Cole recorded an eye-popping 54 digs for the Cougars. It’s the latest season-high mark for Cole, who has put up a staggering 438 digs in 61 sets of play this season. Three times in the last two weeks Cole has averaged double-digit digs per set. She’s also had five matches with at least 31 digs this season.
Sophie Crawford Sophie Crawford 6'1" | S Gull Lake | 2024 State MI , Sr. S Gull Lake
Crawford was the offensive catalyst for Gull Lake to pick up a big four-set win over Portage Northern last week. The senior ran a very smooth and up-tempo offense while also displaying her attacking ability. Crawford put down 11 kills in the win, while also getting great swings out of her teammates in a match that saw all four sets decided by four points or less.
Campbell Flynn Campbell Flynn 6'2" | S Mercy | 2025 State #4 Nation MI , Jr. S Mercy
The Marlins are glad to have their elite setter back after missing weeks of the fall season while playing with Team USA’s Girls U19 National Team. Flynn showcased her all-around talents last week in a sweep of Toledo Central Catholic. The Marlins hit .329 as a team with Flynn dishing out 27 assists. She also recorded eight aces, six digs and four kills.
Adrienne Greschaw Adrienne Greschaw 5'9" | S North Branch | 2024 State MI , Sr. S North Branch
The Miss Volleyball finalist hit a major career milestone this weekend as the Broncos headed to Chicago to compete in the ASICS Challenge. Playing against some strong out-of-state competition, Greschaw tallied 110 assists to get to 4,000 in her career. Only 12 other players have hit that milestone in MHSAA history. She now sits at 4,104 on the season with the 686 she has through 76 sets of play in 2023. Greschaw has the Broncos hitting at .289 as a team on the year.
Clara Gyomory Clara Gyomory 5'10" | RS North Branch | 2024 State MI , Sr. RS North Branch
It’s not usual we will put two players from the same team on a weekly leader report, but Gyomory earned the right. In a win last Tuesday against Algonac, Gyomory hit .882 with 15 kills and no errors in 17 swings. That hitting percentage isn’t something you will see very often with 17 swings. Head coach Jim Fish said it was a performance he’s never seen in his legendary coaching career. She then followed it up with 37 kills while hitting .387 at the ASICS Challenge in Chicago this past weekend. Gyomory is now at 266 kills on the year while hitting .386.
Gracelynn Olson Gracelynn Olson 5'8" | S Fruitport | 2026 State MI , So. S Fruitport
The sophomore setter for Fruitport has surpassed 1,000 career assists in her young prep career. She’s up to 476 on the season and has gotten into a nice groove for the Trojans this season. Her season high is a 38-assist performance against Allendale. Olson is up to 1,118 assists on her career, while also being a real threat offensively with 224 kills in her career.
Morgin Parsley Morgin Parsley 5'10" | S Walled Lake Northern | 2026 State MI , So. OH/S Walled Lake Northern
The Knights have needed someone to step up offensively with injuries and Parsley has done just that. Last week she put up 24 kills in a five-set win with South Lyon where she hit .415. She also added nine assists. Parsley followed that up with 14 kills in a three-set sweep of Walled Lake Central. She’s hit over .400 in three straight matches and given WLN a needed boost.
Taylor Smith Taylor Smith 6'1" | S Pewamo Westphalia | 2024 State MI , Sr. S Pewamo-Westphalia
Continuing with a strong week for setters last week, Smith led the defending D3 champions to the title in the D3/D4 Showdown last weekend in Pontiac. A talented field saw P-W best Plymouth Christian in the final in three sets. Smith did her usual job of running a very smooth Pirate offense, spreading the ball well to her hitters and getting aggressive swings out of multiple teammates. She also recorded three blocks and a handful of kills in the final.
Jenna Southland Jenna Southland 6'1" | MB Three Rivers | 2024 State MI , Sr. OH/MH Three Rivers
Speaking of hitting unreal percentages, Southland hit .852 with 23 kills in a sweep of St. Joseph last week. She took 27 swings in the match and didn’t record a hitting error. She followed that up with 14 kills in a sweep of Plainwell while hitting .480. On the year, Southland is one of the state’s kill leaders with 410 while hitting .344. She’s had 15 different matches where she has hit .400 or better.
