<p>The dominant 2019 club season for Legacy 18-Elite continued this past weekend in Detroit when they claimed the Can Am Classic title in the 18 & 17 Open Division.</p>
<p>Legacy had a perfect weekend, going 6-0 in matched and 12-0 in sets to claim the title. The six wins moves Legacy to 64-4 for the 2019 season.</p>
<p>Adding a little intrigue to this weekend’s championship was that 18-Elite went up against Legacy 17-Elite in the final. It was a competitive match, even though it went just two sets. 18-Elite grabbed the win, 25-15, 25-21. 17-Elite scored the most points against 18-Elite this weekend.</p>
<p>Libero <strong>Hannah Grant</strong> (Michigan State) continued her tremendous club season by racking up 75 digs and eight aces over the weekend. <strong>Jess Mruzik </strong>(Michigan) had 33 kills on the weekend while hitting .408 while <strong>Jessica Robinson </strong>(Michigan) had 30 kills with a .596 hitting percentage. The two also combined for 15 blocks. <strong>Paige Briggs </strong>(Western Kentucky) added 20 kills with a .447 hitting percentage and five aces while <strong>Celia Cullen </strong>(Michigan State) had 106 assists and 16 kills this weekend.</p>
<p>Dead Frog 18 Black finished third in the 18 & 17 Open Division as well. They fell to 18-Elite in the semifinals, 25-13, 25-14.</p>
<p>Legacy 18-Elite now turns its attention to the AAU National Championships, which take place May 24-27 from Orlando, Fla. They will certainly enter as one of the top favorites to win it all.</p>
<p><strong>16 Open</strong></p>
<p>Adding to the strong weekend for Legacy, its 16-National team earned the 16 Open championship by going 7-0 over the event with a 14-1 set record. Legacy topped Michigan 16 Elite East in the final in three sets. Michigan Elite took the first 28-26, but Legacy bounced back with 25-19, 15-8 victories over the next two sets. Both Dead Frog 16 Black and TeamD 16-Red reached the gold bracket quarterfinals and picked up a consolation victory to finish tied for fifth.</p>
<p><strong>15 Open</strong></p>
<p>Moving up an age group, Legacy 14-Elite finished second in the 15 Open this weekend. Legacy was 6-2 for the weekend with a 13-6 set record. Circle City 14 Purple won the championship thanks to a 20-25, 25-17, 15-8 win over Legacy in the deciding match.</p>
