About Emily

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I'm a pin hitter, but at 5'9" can move around the court and play every position. My strengths are speed, power, and volleyball IQ.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I'm a very positive person who has so much fun playing volleyball. I'm also mentally tough, and thrive in high pressure situations. I love to have the ball in my hands with the game on the line.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I'm part of the "varsity club" at Lowell High School. We volunteer our time working with young kids and seniors.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’m a National Honor Society member, and also and Member of the LHS Women’s leadership council. We actively volunteer in the community and around greater Grand Rapids.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Last year, my sophomore season on varsity, I had a thigh strain the week of tryouts and missed 4 weeks. Then after returning, I broke a finger in a blocking drill. This year, while starting at OH, I was in a car accident and punctured a lung 1/2 way through the season. After a couple weeks of recovery, my focus shifted to doing everything I could to help my team prepare for the post season.

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm looking for a place with PT or nursing degrees, within 1/2day drive.
