Oligmueller was as advertised. Good luck trying to put a positional designation on Oligmueller, as she can carry any role for Class D2’s top seed. Wynot used their star senior as a pin hitter and a middle blocker at the net, exploiting whichever matchup was most favorable. Oligmueller is lethal in the middle, but she also rotates into the middle-back area to provide persistent defense and scoring at the end line. Her stat-stuffing campaign continues in Friday’s semifinals.

Oligmueller has been here before. She was part of Wynot’s 2023 postseason efforts but took the starring role as a junior. The hard-hitting middle blocker led Wynot with over 300 kills in the regular season while also racking up 40 aces. Moreover, the Blue Devils wielded an elite blocking unit that looked to Oligmueller to anchor the operation. This will be a can’t-miss senior in next year’s small-town championship race.

Oligmueller used last year’s state tournament to showcase her terminal arm to a wider audience. This efficient middle blocker easily reached triple-digit kills while also anchoring a strong Wynot block. Oligmueller is also a multi-sport athlete who has already given so much to the Blue Devils after two seasons. That legacy will grow as Oligmueller becomes an upperclassman this fall.

Wynot’s aggressive front row was a huge storyline at last year’s tournament, and that picture wouldn’t be complete without Oligmueller. Though Oligmueller might not have the length of some of her fellow Blue Devils, she makes up for it with her quickness off the floor and sound technique. The sophomore middle blocker will be the leading returning scorer on next year’s team, and we’re anxious to see how that changes the dynamic for Oligmueller’s future development. Her time in the spotlight has arrived.
