Power League play in the Heart of America17U Division did not disappoint last weekend. I saw five teams play and one of them played twice.

I featured 15 players from the event in Lawrence last Saturday, but here is a final report on the Day One competition featuring 10 more athletes who love playing club ball and hope to get opportunities to play volleyball at the collegiate level.

[player_tooltip player_id='221517' first='Jordyn' last='Washington'], 5'10”, MH, Andover Central, '25 (Shockwave 17-1)

Washington was not as dominant as I have seen her in the past, but I wouldn't say she had a down day either. She finished with two kills, three blocks, and two digs in the Shockwave's win over [program_tooltip program_id='428889' first='Dynasty' last=''] 17-2 team in the first weekend of Power League action. I still think she can play for a Division I or Division II program after high school.

[player_tooltip player_id='493370' first='Prayer' last='Roebuck'], 5'10”, RS, Neodesha, '25 (Shockwave 17-1)

Roebuck is a lefty who can hit the ball but often gets overlooked on her talented club team. She finished with two kills and two blocks in the match I scouted. She won't get as much attention as she plays for a small high school program, but she is gaining some exposure and adding some toughness to her game by playing club ball. She has had conversations with JUCO programs in southeast Kansas.

[player_tooltip player_id='520294' first='Kenzy' last='McArtor'], 6'0”, MB/OH, Clearwater, '25 (KS Networks 17-1)

McArtor was very impressive in the KS Networks 17-1's second match of Power League Play. She collected five kills, three digs, two blocks, and three aces against the Topeka Saints. I did not stat her in the first game as I was focused on a couple of her teammates. I think she can play six rotations depending on the level of the college program. She plays a poised game and is not intimidated by anything or anyone on a volleyball court.

Teegan Canady, 5'10”, RS, Valley Center, '25 (KS Networks 17-1)

Canady is an interesting prospect. She is a physical specimen who played front row only for Showtime. She can jump and hit the ball hard, but I also think she would project as a front-row-only player at the college level and am not sure she is tall enough to get a ton of offers. She is however an exceptional athlete. I covered some college flag football and I could see her playing linebacker or tight end for an NAIA program with flag football. The bottom line is she is tough and will find a way to play college sports if she really wants it.

[player_tooltip player_id='338557' first='Myiah' last='Soderberg'], 5'5”, DS, Washburn Rural, '25 (Topeka Saints 17-1)

Soderberg had six digs and three serve receptions for the Saints in the match I scouted. Soderberg has a solid defensive frame, although she reached for balls a couple of times. She is completely dedicated to volleyball and would add solid depth to an NAIA program.

Paxon Damme, 5'5”, DS, Perry-Lecompton, '26 (Topeka Saints 17-1)

So Damme was one of the few athletes I saw this weekend who was playing up in the 17U Division. Not only was she playing up, but she is in the Class of 2027 and playing against athletes from the Class of 2025. There is no doubt she can play and has lots of time to continue to improve her skills. She did not appear to play hesitant at all, but she did not play as much of a factor in the attack game as I anticipated. Damme did record two kills and two blocks in the one Saints match I watched.

[player_tooltip player_id='493369' first='Sophia' last='Plotnikov'], 5'11”, MH/OH, Olathe Northwest, '25 (Pohaku 17-1)

Plotnikov is the most physical player on the Pohaku 17-1 squad. She has a nice reach and stays out of the net. She filled up her stat sheet with four kills, two digs, two serve receptions, one block, and one ace in a match against KS Networks 17-1. I feel like she is a slam dunk player at the NAIA level but needs to work on improving her overall quickness.

Amya Kador, 5'5”, DS/L, Blue Valley Northwest, '25 (Pohaku 17-1)

Kador is a salty libero who racked up 16 serve receptions in the one Pohaku match I scouted. She also finished with six digs and has an accurate serve. She makes consistent passes and can improve her recruitment stock by improving her defensive instincts. She did let the ball get in on her and handcuff her on a couple of instances.

[player_tooltip player_id='261104' first='Brylynn' last='Wicker'], 5'10”, MB, Paola, '25 ([program_tooltip program_id='428889' first='Dynasty' last=''] 17-2)

I did not see Paola play and this was the first time I saw the [program_tooltip program_id='428889' first='Dynasty' last=''] Blue squad compete. Wicker was a nice surprise. She is very physical and can jump. She finished with six kills in a three-set loss to Shockwave 17-1. Wicker has a quick approach and a compact swing. She has a bright future ahead of her.

Ava Whiteing, 5'11”, MB, Olathe West, '25 ([program_tooltip program_id='428889' first='Dynasty' last=''] 17-2)

Whiteing played front row only for the [program_tooltip program_id='428889' first='Dynasty' last=''] squad. Like Wicker, she is very physical, but I would say a little less polished than her front-row teammate. She had two kills against Shockwave. She plays a poised game and adjusts well when the team is out of system.

Power League play in the Heart of America17U Division did not disappoint last weekend. I saw five teams play and one of them played twice.
