These eight athletes would each be featured in an ESPN highlight reel of the event. On a day when many athletes did not seem to be fully awake early in the morning, these Class of 2025 prospects were running circles around their competitors and teammates.
Stay tuned to Prep Dig this week for a scheduled Class of 2024 rankings update and a Class of 2025 rankings update before the month is over.
Chloe Traffas Chloe Traffas 5'4" | DS/L Attica | 2025 State KS , 5’3”, L, Attica, ’25, (Shockwave 17-1)
Traffas is an incredible prospect. While many liberos tend to be on the passive side, there is nothing timid about the Attica prospect’s game. She sometimes looks out of control, but that’s because she is getting to balls that no one should be laying a hand on. She finished with a total of nine serve receptions, eight digs, and one kill in a Shockwave loss. I don’t have enough superlatives to describe her game right now, and here is a spoiler, she will be the topped-ranked DS/L when the 2025 Prep Dig Kansas rankings are updated.
Teagan Canady Teagan Canady 5'10" | OH Valley Center | 2025 State KS , 5’10”, RS, Valley Center, ’25 (KS Networks 17-1)
Canady is one of the few players who seemed to pick up her game a notch during this day’s events. She was flying all over the court during Showtime’s first match of the day. Her bulky stat line included nine kills, three digs, and four serve receptions in the team’s win over a team from Columbia, Missouri.
Delainee Dexter Delainee Dexter 5'9" | S Eisenhower | 2025 State KS , 5’7”, S, Eisenhower, ’25 (KS Networks 17-1)
This was by FAR the best I have seen Dexter play and she finished with the best match for any setter that I saw on Sunday. She recorded an eye-popping 21 assists in the KS Networks squad’s opening victory. She is quick and agile. The Eisenhower prospect added four digs in the win and made a strong case to get bumped up the rankings when they are next updated.
Campbell Chabot Campbell Chabot 5'6" | S Topeka Seaman | 2025 State KS , 5’6”, S, Seaman, ’25 (Topeka Saints 17-1)
Chabot continues to impress me. She kept the Saints alive in a losing effort with her defense against Dynasty 17-2. It was one of the better defensive efforts I have seen from her. She is a quick setter who has a smooth game. I have had multiple college coaches tell me they enjoy her game.
Tori Buss Tori Buss 5'9" | OH Wichita North | 2025 State KS , 5’9”, OH, Wichita North, ’25 (Shockwave 17-1)
While several of the Shockwave athletes struggled in the Power League action, Buss had her best match that I have scouted. She was all over the court in the team’s loss to Alpha & Omega finishing with eight serve receptions, four digs, one kill, one block, and one ace. If she keeps this up she will make a move up the Class of 2025 rankings.
Olivia Nicoli Olivia Nicoli 5'10" | OH Bishop Carroll | 2025 State KS , 5’10”, OH, Bishop Carroll, ’25 (KS Networks 17-1)
I had the feeling that Nicoli’s club coach tipped her off that I was coming to scout their team. She stepped her game up a couple of levels from when I last saw her play. She had an all-around sound match to open the day’s play. Nicoli racked up eight kills, 12 serve receptions, and eight digs. She played six rotations and impressed other coaches scouting the event on Sunday.
Bella Reid Bella Reid 5'10" | OH Topeka Hayden | 2025 State KS , 5’8”, DS/RS, Hayden, ’25 (Topeka Saints 17-1)
This was the best match I have seen Reid play at the high school or club level. She was extremely active on a morning when other athletes seemed to be dragging. She finished with six digs and seven serve receptions in a Saints loss. Reid has a quiet confidence in her game.
Leah Russell-Bova Leah Russell-Bova 5'10" | OH Olathe West | 2025 State KS , 5’10”, OH, Olathe West, ’25 ( Dynasty 17-2)
Russell-Bova had one of the better matches of the day. She is quick and has some serious bounce to her game. Her stat line in a win over the Topeka-Saints included six kills, five digs, and five serve receptions.
