Committed to Wake Forest next year, this senior is leading the whole state in digs this year! She averages over 5.9 a set and has chipped in 42 aces as well.

On of the best parts about her game is her quickness and agility she shows on the court. She has a very explosive first step and amazing lateral movement that makes her get to the right spot early and often to get her platform ready to pass. This also a great help as she transition extremely well between defense and coverage since she has this quick and fast movement.

Another part of her game is her high IQ while the game is going on and ability to see things before they are happening. She reads hitters well and seems to know where the ball is going before the setter even releases the ball. She is technically sound in her defense and serve receive which makes sure she is never in the wrong position at any point and all her passes seem to seamlessly go to the target each and every play keeping her team in system the whole time.

Mattea is an easy choice for top liberos in this senior class and her game will translate seamlessly to the D1 level next year. We see her as a day 1 contributor in college next year and know she will represent AZ well!
