About Jaycee

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would briefly describe my gameplay style as very competitive and also hype. When I am playing, I am always using my brain to find the open spots on the other side of the court to score. Putting 100% effort for every play is something I am big on. Also, when I get a block or a kill, I am always getting excited and celebrating.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

When I play volleyball, I have a good mentality. Through the years I have grown and realized that a lot of volleyball is a mental sport. I know I have matured in that way because if I make a mistake I know I got the next one. Sometimes, there are trainings that might be hard for me if I am learning new footwork or learning a new skill. I know that if I keep practicing, I will get it.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

At Smithville Highschool, I am involved in student council. This is a group of kids in my school that are lead by a teacher. We help impact the school in many different ways. We promote school values, have school spirit, and many other things.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I think volleyball is a big factor in teaching me leadership and teamwork. Also, I have learned teamwork by volunteering for the FFA group at my school. We all worked together to plant mums one by one during the Fall. After they have grown, FFA makes money by selling them to anyone who would like one.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I think a significant challenge that I faced a few years ago was during one of my practices. I had a severe MCP dislocation in my right thumb. I had to get it put back into place and the hardest part for me was the mental side of things. I missed out on many tournaments but thankfully I went through physical therapy and after about 6 months I was back out on the court competing.

What type of college are you looking for?

I would like to have a very good medical program at the college I attend. My goal is to be an anesthesiologist. I would like to attend a larger school because I do well working with big classes and lectures. Something else that is very important to me is a clean and nice campus.
