10 Breakout Stars from the Varsity Sizzle

The Sizzle is always such a fun preview of what the high school season might hold. There were several athletes who really stood out as having the potential to have HUGE seasons this fall. Here are 10 breakout stars from the Sizzle.    Lucy was so impressive for Brookfield Central. She actually played mostly middle at the tournament and absolutely rocked it. She is very athletic and dynamic. Lucy was not afraid to step in and pick up short balls or tips over the net and was always fast in transition. She had some impressive block touches and worked really hard to have a positive impact in the middle.     Haylin caught my eye right away on day 1 of the Sizzle. She had some powerhouse swings that helped her team level up. She was so disciplined and explosive in her approach and in transition. She also worked pin-to-pin to put up a good block. Haylin has a huge amount of potential and showed it during the Sizzle.     Madelynn shows grit in every single play. She is the kind of player you want on the court because she is talented in her skills and competitive. She has power but places her swings well and can find great seams on defense. Madelynn was also a solid passer and an impact player in transition.     Josie was incredibly impressive at the Sizzle. It is hard to believe she is only a rising sophomore. She covered so much space on serve receive, which freed up her pins to focus on offense. Josie also had a clean platform and angles. She was huge on serve receive and defense and is a player to watch in this class.     Paige is a middle from Madison Memorial who was dynamic at the Sizzle. She has a huge vertical and is quick to react to different sets. She made great adjustments with her setter and utilized every opportunity to earn points.     Eiley was a stand-out player at the Sizzle. Her ability to manufacture points of any set is impressive. She was a natural leader on the court for Mercer and was a consistent force on offense. She is also a talented passer and a huge positive influence on the court.     Addison is a player that has been on our radar and she continued to impress at the Sizzle. She has good form and kept her hitters in system as much as possible. She gave great opportunities to attack and showed a lot of maturity and leadership on the court.     Riley was new on my radar at the Sizzle. She is a dynamic middle who is just gritty. At one point, she had three stuff blocks in a row, and then the exclamation point on her run was a birthday ball that she slammed right off the 10' line. She was fun to watch, energetic, and a huge impact player.     Neela is a crafty pin hitter who has a whole toolbox of shots she can utilize on nearly any set. She is smart and athletic, with a keen eye for holes in opposing defenses. She is a consistent go-to hitter who manufactures points and could have a breakout season for Winneconne.     Alayna showed so much grit at the sizzle. She never missed a beat and was ready to run down balls in all six rotations. She has really improved since the last time I saw her play. I was so impressed by her command of the court and her overall court awareness. She is an athlete who could step into a huge leadership role this year.
