I don’t often talk about defensive specialists because there are so many. They look the same, they play the same, and they have the same bruises on their legs. Courtney’s a little different. As the libero at Summit, she’s responsible for passing half the court in serve receive (which she does at an above-average level) and left-back defense (which she covers well). At current, she’s a little “armsy” when the ball is outside of her body, causing the ball to pull a little. But for now, Summit’s success this spring has been chiefly because of their libero, as Courtney’s first contact is where it’s at.

Inman was one of my top passers from the Expo overall. She keeps her platform away from her body consistently and is focused and confident – the type of DS you love to pass next to in serve receive. Courtney is also really good on out of system balls with her platform, where she puts up a high, slightly inside the court, not too tight set for her hitters to be successful with. Lastly, Inman has a nasty, flat, deep float serve which gave her several aces and many out of system balls for the opposing passers. She is certainly a sophomore DS/L that is one to watch – I’m excited to see her development over the club season with Summit, especially to watch how she can grow as a floor leader.
