About Olivia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a quick and determined player moving all around the court at all times and able to get a ball up one way or another. I’m not afraid of hard hits or tough serves and I’m always willing to adjust.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m a very optimistic and loud person. I love getting excited about the game and cheering as loud as possible with my teammates. I play volleyball for the love of the game and that helps me to stay positive and always have fun. In addition to having fun with it I’m also competitive and play for a win.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I have been on honor chords for the past 3 years and student council for the past 7 years. I am also on FCA and on the path to graduate with honors.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I am a great leader, I know how to conduct a team and keep things under control. I love being in charge and working with other people. I have definitely learned that 50% of the key to having a successful team is the relationship between the coach and players and the ability to work together.

What type of college are you looking for?

My biggest goal with volleyball is to have another 4 years doing the thing I love most at a place that is the right fit for me. I look for a bigger college that offers lots of different majors and opportunities. My education has always been important to me and I hope to go somewhere that values that.

Although Olivia is young and still improving her fundamentals (which is exactly what young players should be doing), she has two characteristics that you simply cannot teach. Hustle and selflessness. All coaches know if you have a player with those two qualities, plus athleticism, you have the makings of a great volleyball player. I never saw Jones slacking off; she was always hustling, going for everything and in every drill. This young lady wants to play and wants to get better! Add on top of that her kindness to everyone around her and a great big smile, and you have a kid that can be something great with good fundamentals training and more playing experience.
