Statewide Recap of Top Matches From Tuesday, Sept. 10

<p>In the match of the night, Class A #2 and undefeated Elkhorn South survived an upset bid from Bellevue West as the Storm rallied for a 25-10, 23-25, 24-26, 25-21, 15-9 win over the Thunderbirds.</p> <p>Ibi Green had 21 kills for Elkhorn South and Kylie Weeks added 20 while Rylee Gray had 12 kills and 2 1/2 blocks. Brilee Wieseler had 10 kills and 18 digs. Madi Woodin finished the night with 56 assists and 17 digs and Estella Zatechka had a match-high 29 digs.</p> <p>For Bellevue West, middles Jacki Aple and Kealy Kiviniemi each had 13 kills and freshman Destiny Simpson had 12. Brittney Sheibal had 27 digs for the Thunderbirds and Jayna Hope had 36 assists.</p> <p>Elkhorn South improved to 7-0 with the win while Bellevue West dropped to 3-5.</p> <p>Class A’s top-ranked team, Papillion-LaVista.swept Omaha Benson 25-8, 25-6, 25-14 to improve to 9-0. Papio and Elkhorn South will face each other Thursday night.</p> <p>Fourth-ranked Lincoln Pius X swept #9 Papillion-LaVista South 25-11, 25-21, 25-19.</p> <p>Kylen Sealock led the Bolts with 13 kills and 10 digs while Lauren Taubenheim had seven kills, Carly Rodaway had six and Alexis Markowski had four to go with seven blocks. Miriam Miller had a match-high 27 digs for Pius X and Addison Markowski and Hannah Pham each had 18 assists.</p> <p>For Papillion-LaVista South, Sophie Hendrix had 10 kills and eight digs while Ava LeGrand had nine kills, four digs and 10 assists. Delaney Vallinch had 19 digs for the Titans and Ashlyn Dierks had 16 assists and six digs.</p> <p>Class A #5 Gretna got 15 kills and nine digs from Skylar McCune and Lydia Yost added seven kills and 10 digs as the Dragons swept Omaha Westside 25-14, 25-22, 25-14. Avery Kallman and Emma Prentice each added seven kills for Gretna while Lauren Anderson had 32 assists and five ace serves and Kenedy Schaecher had 10 digs and three aces.</p> <p>Milalrd South, ranked #8 in Class, got a pair of quality wins with sweeps of #10 Elkhorn (25-22, 25-12) and Class B #4 Omaha Duchesne 25-19, 25-15.</p> <p>Paige Fixemer had 14 kills and four blocks in the win over Elkhorn while Sam Steele had 13 digs and Makayla Fleming had 18 assists. Maddie MacTaggart had a team-high five kills and Audrey Behernds had three ace serves.</p> <p>Class B #1 Waverly cruised to a 25-5, 25-9, 25-11 win over Blair. Whitney Lauenstein had 10 kills for the Vikings and Abby Plouzek and Molllie Grosshans each had seven. Annika Evans had 34 assists and 10 digs. Emma Cada led Blair with three kills.</p> <p>Marriah Allen had seven kills for Beatrice Tuesday night in a 25-13, 25-18, 25-19 loss to #2 Skutt Catholic.</p> <p>Class B #3 Norris got 11 kills from Ella Waters in a 25-15, 25-5, 25-8 sweep of Nebraska City. Paige Wilkinson added five kills and three ace serves while Maisie Boesieger had 23 assists and five digs and Molly Ramsey had 11 digs.</p> <p>Class A North Platte defeated Class B #9 Gering 22-25, 25-20, 25-11, 25-23. Eli Winkler had 15 kills for Gering while Zoee Smith had 24 digs and Macey Boggs had 19 assists.</p> <p>In a battle of ranked Class C1 teams, #7 Wayne knocked off #4 Columbus Scotus 21-25, 25-15, 26-24, 25-23. Lauren Pick had 25 kills for the Blue Devils while Emily Armstrong had 16. Hailey Backer had 29 digs and Sydney Redden had 26 for Wayne and Kiara Krusemark had 53 assists.</p> <p>Allie DeGroff had 14 kills and Emma Walz had 10 as Class D1 #7 Archbishop Bergan took a 25-16, 25-10, 25-6 win over Arlington</p> <p>Marriah Buss had 32 kills to lead Class C1 #3 Lincoln Lutheran to a 25-20, 25-27, 25-23, 25-22 over Class C1 #5 Lincoln Christian.</p> <p>Class C2 #10 Cross County took a 25-23, 26-24, 25-19 win over Class D2 #2 BDS behind 11 kills from Cortlyn Schaefer.</p>
