Full disclosure—-her high school season didn’t exactly go as planned. Her transformation, however, has her using every bit of her 5’9” frame; she’s got a setting coach for a club coach, and everything about her setting technique has changed for the better. High hands, strong shoulders, an ability to do all parts of the setting position, from offense to defense to setting the right hitters, is MILES ahead of where she was in the fall. I can only imagine how far she’ll come once club season comes around.

Losing two top teammates to transfer is tough. Holding the rest of the roster together while being the physical and vocal leader? Even tougher. Larkin, throughout what was a rough fall for the Pioneers, showed a level of leadership this author hasn’t seen before—-a nice trait to have as the quarterback of the offense. Her long arms make her look taller than her frame, and her hands are soft enough to receive the ball well and locate it even better.

Larkin was a freshman double threat for the Pioneers this past season, in both setting and hitting. She finished top 3 on the team in every statistical category, leading the team in assists and aces, and finishing second in total kills. It will be exciting to watch her at the Expo in both positions – she appears to have a confidence about her that is far past her freshman age. Look for Prosser to make a difference on her Rev 15-1s team this club season.
