Rising Stars in class A

<p>    We are nearly half way into the season and players and teams are starting to settle into their routine.  While some things in class A stay the same, there are new players making a name for themselves and growing their program.  They may not be the leader in kills or the captain of the team yet, but their momentum is moving them toward a great varsity career.  Here are five rising stars in the single A class.</p> <p><strong>Emily Carolan</strong>; <em>Mabel Canton</em>; 5'4'' RS</p> <ul> <li>Her team is currently undefeated and, sophomore, <em>Emily</em>, is a key contributor to the team's success.  She's devoted to her supporting role adding solid numbers in every stat.  As a left-handed player she loves to catch the defense off guard. </li> </ul> <p><strong>Leah Berg</strong>; <em>Kenyon Wanamingo</em>; 5'10'' RS</p> <ul> <li>This sophomore is adding a lot to this highly ranked team.  She does an excellent job of setting the block on the right side.  Her long reach allows her to get a piece of so many hits helping out her teammates on defense.  While they don't use her as an offensive threat a lot, when they do she makes it count with her high kill percentage (.385.)</li> </ul> <p><strong style="font-size: 1rem;">Micalyn Trihus</strong><span style="font-size: 1rem;">; </span><em style="font-size: 1rem;">Blooming Prairie</em><span style="font-size: 1rem;">; 6''' MH</span></p> <ul> <li>Listed as a middle for her height and blocking skills, but this year the Blossoms have been using her as a threat on the outside when rotations allow it.  She is fast across the net and has really developed her ability to hit angles.  She would make an awesome college outside.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Kaija Kunze-Hoeg</strong>; <em>Mounds Park Academy</em>; 5'10'' OH</p> <ul> <li>This young player already has over 100 kills for the year. She also leads the team in digs.  This multi-sport athlete has been a part of Northern Lights black teams and it has helped her become the leader of her high school team.  They are currently second in the Independent Metro Athletic Conference, behind St. Paul Academy.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Tezra Rudzitis</strong>; <em>Legacy Christian Academy</em>; 5'10'' S</p> <ul> <li>Another sophomore with a huge role on this small school.  She was a key player last year making the Minnesota Christan All-Conference 2nd Team.  Look for Legacy to have a great season thanks to their rising star, Tezra.</li> </ul>
