In 2019, Benet upsets Marist at the Wheaton Classic early in the season, however, Marist returns the favor later in the year.
Here are the players to watch:
Mairead Boyle (2020, 5’8, L, Marist)
She is one of the best passers in the state: the top five for sure. Mairead gets overshadowed by her teammates and their hitting and blocking prowess, but she makes the passes that makes them play better.
Sophia Gregus (2020, 6’0, OH, Benet)
Sophia is Benet’s leading kill-getter with 244 kills. Sophia adds 35 blocks, 33 aces, and 84 digs to her totals for 2019.
Camryn Hannah (2020, 6’2, RS/S, Marist, Michio VBC, Clemson)
She is the best player in the state, hands down. There are others that are as strong as her in the areas of passing and setting, but no one delivers the full package like Camryn.
Avery Jendry, (2020, 5’11, OH. Marist)
Watching the stats, you can tell Marist likes setting the pins. Avery Jendry is the beneficiary of that, She has played both right and left side the season, but really got into a groove come playoff time. It will be interesting to see her succeed come Friday night.
Hattie Monson (2020, 5’6, L, Benet)
One of the best libero’s in the state, if not the country. 350 digs and 22 aces on the year. A good passing night for Hattie means a good hitting night for Benet.
Rachel Musiega (2021, 6’0, S, Benet)
Rachel has 675 sets, 165 digs, and 31 service aces. She runs a quick offense and is able to be effective when the play is out of system.
