Jasper took home the tournament title at Pleasant Hope over the weekend. In the process, they would sweep off School of the Ozarks, Stockton, Conway, Greenfield, and Lockwood and take on Marionville in the title match. [player_tooltip player_id='234361' first='Crystal' last='Smith'] and <strong>Aspen Lehman</strong> were the big bombers up front in the title match, combining for 27 kills to take a 21-25, 26-24, 25-23 win.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Ursuline Bears 16-7-2</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lutheran South Tournament title winner Ursuline Bears split with Parkway Central and Timberland and swept Mehlville during pool play. Ursuline beat an excellent Parkway West team 13-25, 30-28, and 25-20 in the semifinals to move on to the finals. [player_tooltip player_id='224817' first='Elizabeth' last='Koenig'] and [player_tooltip player_id='490583' first='Lucy' last='Ellsworth'] stuffed their stats, combining 21 kills and 30 assists to help the Bears move to the finals. Timberland Wolves and Ursuline locked up again, this time for the title. First, they won the SEMO conference tournament with sweeps of Notre Dame and Dexter. In the win over Dexter, [player_tooltip player_id='630748' first='Avery' last='Brune'] went nuts, putting down ten kills on 19 swings for a .474 hitting percentage. Next on the title list was the Jackson Tournament. Each year, this tournament keeps getting better and more competitive. Jackson would sweep opponents [program_tooltip program_id='428790' first='Park' last='Hills'] Central, Nerinx Hall, and Potosi and then get the 2-1 win over Kirkwood. The championship match pitted Jackson against the defending Class 4 champions, Incarnate Word Academy. During the title contest, [player_tooltip player_id='168036' first='Katherine' last='St. John'] of Jackson and [player_tooltip player_id='169896' first='Ellie' last='Witthaus'] of IWA were the leaders of their respective teams, putting down 17 kills in the title. With wins over Reeds Springs, Willard, Spokane, and Knob Noster, the Liberators left with the biggest trophy. LeBlond suffered a loss in pool play to Savannah 17-25, 19-25. After the wake-up call, LeBlond went on a run, swept the following teams: Bedford, IA, Christ Prep, KS, and beat Benton in 3. In the semifinal win over Smithville 25-21, 15-25, and 25-21,<strong> Ella Frazee</strong> and [player_tooltip player_id='232218' first='Rilyn' last='Conard'] led the offense with 18 kills. The championship was a rematch with Smithville, and the Eagles were out for revenge.
