–
Saturday marked the end of the 2023 season and man, did it go out with a BANG!

In Division 1, we crowned a new champion for the first time since 2018! For the last several seasons, we have witnessed the domination of the Catholic league with Marian and Mercy. To not be denied for a third season in a row, Northville did the unthinkable, defying the defending champs early on in the postseason before taking down Marian and Rockford to take the ultimate crown.

Division 1 was led by none other than the tournament's MOP, [player_tooltip player_id='156293' first='Ella' last='Craggs']. This Division marks nearly 10 years straight of elite level setters being the difference makers in their respective team's championship runs. Check out who all joins Craggs in the Division 1 All-Tournament Dream Team.

All tournament long, [player_tooltip player_id='156325' first='Molly' last='Reck'] has been rock solid. From the offense to the defense, Reck has been putting up double digit numbers in each respective category. In the finals, this is where we saw this twin really elevate her game. In the opener against Marian, Reck had 20/20 vision, putting up 21 kills and 22 digs. In the title game, Reck was even more sensational with a wicked 26 kill night hitting .323.

OH - [player_tooltip player_id='156326' first='Mallory' last='Reck']

Right alongside her twin, [player_tooltip player_id='156326' first='Mallory' last='Reck'] is another layer to the Northville trifecta. Like Molly, Mallory plays the complete game so strongly with big offensive and defensive performances. In the semis, Reck was a bit slow to start going 18-13-76 against Marian. Shaking off all the jitters, Reck in the finals was a big time match for her, putting up 20 kills and 15 digs to win it all.

[player_tooltip player_id='467901' first='Mallory' last='Wandel'] really knew how to up the ante at the perfect part of the season. In the semifinals against Fenton, Wandel was untouchable. 18 kills, hitting well above .400 in a 3 set match, it was a no-brainer for Rockford. In the title game, Wandel added on another 16 kills and led the squad in digs with 19.

The last time [player_tooltip player_id='226945' first='Jayla' last='Zayti'] was in Battle Creek, she was a freshman on the bench. This time around, she was one of the strongest blockers in the Division 1 field. With a season high 7 blocks, Zayti also notched down 6 kills in Marian's valiant effort in their fourth semifinal in five years.

To see this player's growth this season has been something fascinating. No better way to go out than in the state semifinals as one of the strongest middle blockers. In the title game, [player_tooltip player_id='156337' first='Layla' last='Visser'] was putting down points left and right. With 10 kills, hitting over .450, Visser was the leading scoring middle in D1.

There's no way to name anyone else MOP BUT [player_tooltip player_id='156293' first='Ella' last='Craggs']. Beyond the final four, Craggs has shown up time and time again throughout Northville's rigorous postseason. In the finals weekend, Craggs had over 90 assists and led Northville to hit .264 in their championship match.
