The No. 5-ranked Perine represents the highest stock-riser in these rankings. She parlayed a steady and productive freshman season into a rise to the No. 5 slot after previously being ranked No. 48 overall. She unofficially led all Kansas freshmen with 982 assists for the Bulldogs. She is as quick as a startled deer and commands an offense like she is a sixth-year college setter. She helped lead the Bulldogs to the Class 2A State Tournament and has the athletic and leadership skills to make a run at a four-year state tournament streak.

A new addition to the Top 10 of the rankings is Rossville’s Perine. She is ranked No. 3 overall after previously being ranked No. 45. I saw Perine play in September and was impressed with her quickness and leadership skills. She has dished out 883 assists in 92 sets for the Bulldogs. She will head to Dodge City this week to display her skills on the grand stage of the Class 2A State Tournament. Rossville has registered a record of 28-13 and will be the No. 8 Seed in the tournament out West. Perine and her teammates will be challenged early in the tournament as they will open against the last remaining undefeated team in the Sunflower State, the No. 1-seeded Ellinwood Eagles.
