About Elie

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am an explosive 6-rotation pin hitter. My biggest strength is my back-row attack, which is really advantageous to my teams as it provides a fourth-hitter option. I try to get a touch on every ball and place my shots and swings exactly where the other team isn't.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am never quiet on the court. I love to get my teammates excited and make sure we're all on the same track to ramp up the momentum.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in my school's Spanish Honors Society and an officer on our Student Diversity Coalition. I tutor kids in Chemistry, and I have received the Mission of the School Award, Love of Learning Award, and Leadership Award at my school.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I volunteer at a non-profit in San Jose where I work with kids to teach them about gardening and healthy eating. I have always been a leader on the court and pride myself on being able to keep my team's moral up.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I dislocated my ankle in my sophomore year, which was probably the best thing that happened to me in my athletic career. After recovering, I was so much more motivated to be as good at volleyball as I could be. Now, every time I get down on myself, I remember how bummed I was when I couldn't play and how I should just be grateful for every minute of playing.

What type of college are you looking for?

A high academic D3 or Ivy League college.
