Mitchell inks with Eastern Kentucky

<p>Madison Southern senior outside hitter Sarah Mitchell is headed to the next level. Mitchell has signed with Eastern Kentucky University.</p> <p>One of the state's most underrated high school volleyball players, Mitchell helped to lead Madison Southern throughout the 2019 season. As a senior, Mitchell recorded a team-high 305 kills as well as 374 digs, 44 aces and 26 blocks for the Eagles. </p> <p>Madison Southern captured the 44th District title and reached the 11th Region Semifinals during the 2019 season. Mitchell helped Madison Southern compile a record of 28-5 in its latest campaign. </p> <p>Now, Mitchell will have an opportunity to compete for an NCAA Division 1 volleyball team. Eastern Kentucky competes with Jacksonville State, Southeast Missouri, Murray State, Morehead State, Austin Peay, UT Martin, Tennessee Tech, SIUE, Tennessee State, Eastern Illinois and Belmont in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC). The Colonels concluded the 2019 season 9-21. In November, on National Signing Day, Eastern Kentucky signed Molly Michalak (Grove City, Ohio), Audrey Eurton (Washington, Ind.) and Josie Schmitendorf (Huntley, Ill.).</p>
