We’re lingering in Class D2 a little longer. Young has piloted her Hay Springs crew to a 12-3 start behind an unrelenting scoring onslaught. She’s putting down nearly four kills per set on a 0.283 clip, besting her impressive output as an underclassman. Young has a knack for varying her approach in first-ball situations and finding seams in the double block. This junior star will face plenty of well-formed blocks throughout her prep career, but Young’s effectiveness has increased anyway.

We’ll keep leaning on rural stars throughout this feature. Young was a game-changing addition to the Hay Springs frontcourt last fall, showcasing a little of everything along the net. She scored over the top of opposing blockers and was free to run several different attacking routes. Young could deliver side-out scoring from the left pin or become a dominant force in the middle for the Hawks. Her ascent is just beginning after becoming one of Nebraska’s most efficient freshman attackers in 2024.
