The Class of 2022 athletes made a huge statement at the Top 250 Expo and here are some of the athletes that were truly impressive.
Cassandra Alsum – OH – Randolph High School
Cassandra has everything a coach wants in an outside hitter: a high reach, big jump, and impossibly fast follow-through. She was impressive to watch throughout the Top 250 Expo including her serve receive, defense, and blocking. Cassandra has a great presence on the court and is a fun athlete to watch play.
Emma Baierl – S – Howards Grove High School – Prep Dig Rank #23
Emma is a very smart setter. She reads the court well and seems to decide where to set the ball efficiently and effectively with ease. Her ability to make quick, educated decisions on the ball makes her stand out among other setters her age.
Ally Barth – MH – Edgewood of the Sacred Heart – Prep Dig Rank #16
Ally is an all-around great athlete. She is the kind of middle who can pass the ball on defense and then approach and put up a massive swing. Her versatility makes her dangerous anywhere on the court. Ally is fun to watch play and her strong snap and powerful swing make her hard to defend against.
Katherine Breier – MH – Sussex Hamilton – Prep Dig Rank #67
Katherine is a middle that is in full control of her body and her swing. Her swings are well placed with a lot of force behind them. She is a very efficient hitter that works well with new setters and adjusts well on the court.
Ella Buddenhagen – OH – Kimberly High School – Prep Dig Rank #64
Ella stood out most in out of system plays. Even on the scrappiest plays, she could find a way to use the ball productively. She bettered every ball and could make something out of every set. Ella has a lot of power and is great at using cut shots on the court
Autumn Daute – S – Cedarburg
Autumn is a powerful setter. She can set the ball pin to pin with seeming ease and can place the ball accurately time and time again. This gives Autumn a lot of options as a setter, making her efficient and also a bit tricky to read!
Casey Frankland – OH – Marshfield
Casey’s signature move is the ability to put down a big swing at key moments. She is a consistent hitter who can also put down momentum-changing kills. Her power is tough to stop.
Katie Gund – S – Pewaukee High School – Prep Dig Rank #35
Katie gives every ounce of effort she has to every single play. You can see her hustling at any moment in time. The dedication she shows to every moment of every play is impressive. As a result, Katie is also a very smart setter and will do nearly anything to better the ball in a scramble situation.
Grace Holschuh – OH – Luxemburg Casco – Prep Dig Rank #37
I first noticed Grace when she jumped in the air and it didn’t seem like she would ever come down. She has a massive vertical which gives her a great view of the court and plenty of time to find the perfect spot to place the ball. Her big hops give her the ability to place the ball well with a lot of power while rarely getting blocked.
Rachel Kerhin – OH – Green Bay Southwest High School
Rachel has a very powerful cross-court shot which she uses to her advantage. She has a lot of control over the speed and placement of the ball making her versatile on the court.
Sydney Lewellin – S – Lake Mills – Prep Dig Rank #9
Syndey was the first setter to catch my eye at the expo. She has soft hands and a powerful presence on the court, even among athletes she has never played with before. Katie is consistent and releases the ball very quickly. She is also a lefty with a very effective swing when she is in the front row.
Mary Satori – OH – Manitowoc Lincoln – Prep Dig Rank #34
Mary is very good at utilizing all of her strength when she hits. She has an explosive approach that transfers into a very powerful swing. Her versatility on the court makes her a powerful weapon for any team she plays on.
Abigail Savatski – MH – Mukwonago High School
Abigail is very smart. She knows when control will be best and when to turn on the power. Her ability to control the speed of her swing and the ball is a huge asset to any team she is on. She is smart in the front row and adjusts how she plays based on who is across the net.
Lily Schuetz – OH – Lakeside Lutheran High School – Prep Dig Rank #76
Lily has a book-perfect arm swing. She swings high and all the way through the ball. This makes her an incredibly effective pin hitter. Her swing gives her options and an added amount of power on the ball.
Adriana Studer – DS/L – Lake Country Lutheran – Prep Dig Rank #7
Adriana is very impressive in the back row. She reads the ball well, talks on the court, and has great court awareness. She plays incredibly well in both left and middle back making her versatile and able to play wherever her team needs her. Adriana’s serve receive is also very impressive.
Dorci Walker – OH – Columbus Catholic High School – Prep Dig Rank #18
If I had to name the athlete who had the biggest impact on me it would have been Dorci. She was impressive in every single drill and every time I was watching a court she was playing on I saw something new and even more impressive about her. She is a dedicated athlete who works well on the court and has an insanely powerful swing. Match that with her massive vertical and she is nearly unstoppable as a hitter, in the back and front row. She also is talented on defense and serve receive.
Every one of these athletes is an impactful player in her own respect. They each shined throughout the Expo under the watchful eyes of college coaches and Prep Dig writers alike. I cannot wait to watch them as they excel and learn throughout the upcoming club season!
