This weekend is the 1st weekend of the Donna Mayer Bid Event. The teams playing on the first weekend are not in the top 10 in the region, but the talent is abundant. Here are three outsides and opposites who I anticipate will help their teams advance to weekend 2.

Lilly Sample – Outside – FC United 16 Black

Lilly is developing into a solid outside for FC United. She should help her Owensville Dutchmen volleyball squad this coming fall. Her great vertical and hesitant swing allow her to catch the blockers on the way down to tool the block. She's a strong all-around player who's still raw and has a high ceiling for improvement.

Ainsley Skubic – Opposite – FC United 16 Black

The Borgia high product is having a season playing on the correct pin for FC United. With her big bounce off the floor and long arms, she plays bigger than her listed 5'8 "height. Ainsley is becoming a force. Her best shot on the opposite is her line shot, where she threads the shot between the blocker and the antenna.

Gabby Cusumano – Opposite – [program_tooltip program_id='428799' first='Rockwood' last='Thunder'] 16 Carolina

The southpaw is putting up some solid numbers for the [program_tooltip program_id='428799' first='Rockwood' last='Thunder'] by taking advantage of her ability to crush the ball line and do it consistently. Gabby uses her height to put up a solid block, and her ability to see and use the outside blockers' hands to her advantage allows her to score points in multiple ways.

Kaiya Weber – Outside – [program_tooltip program_id='428799' first='Rockwood' last='Thunder'] 16 White

Kaiya is developing into a big-time player over this club season and should translate into a big-time player this fall at Borgia. Kaiya is a versatile player who set some in high school but is mainly an outside hitter in club. She is quick off the floor and has a heck of a swing, and her high volleyball IQ allows her to see the blocker and defenders extremely well.

Anna Krauss – Outside – [program_tooltip program_id='428799' first='Rockwood' last='Thunder'] 16 White

The Eureka Wildcat is having a time this year with Rockwood 16 White. A competitor through and through. A great arm swing with power uses an array of attacks to score. If she's not hitting around or through the blockers, you can find her embarrassing the campfire defense with her soft shots over the blockers.

Cami Hower – Opposite – HP South 16 Premier

Another southpaw on my list of top pins is a slugger. Give her an inch and she will take a mile. A deadly opposite who hits with a ton of power and uses the outside hand of the blocker to score at will. Her line shot is on point, and the left back defender better be ready when Cami whines up to swing. A smart blocker with fast feet allows her to be available on offense and a scoring machine.
