Oakland County’s Top 2027 Talents: Part 3

The county has consistently produced Division 1 college athletes as well as Miss Volleyball winners.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here's a look at what Oakland County is bringing to the table from the Class of 2027. This is the third part of three of OC's top 2027 talents, listed in alphabetical order.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='442985' first='Josie' last='Seets'], RS/OH Clarkston/Legacy</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Seets is able to finish from either pin and is looking more comfortable in a lead role each week. She's showing she can finish with power, but also adjust well at the net when the sets aren't where she needs them. She's making smart plays that score, helping her advance as a prospect. Seets also is a strong blocking force at 6'1” with a lot of length.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='442995' first='Marlie' last='Smith'], S Clarkston/Legacy</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A great example of an on-court leader, Smith not only leads with her tremendous play, but the enthusiasm and energy she brings to the rest of her team. Along with being able to make all the sets and play at an incredible pace, Smith gets the most out of her teammates and isn't afraid to take charge. Her competitive fire has pushed her to being one of the best in the class.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='436889' first='Sophia' last='Smith'], RS Marian/Legacy</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Smith is a majorly improved player over the last year. The 6'2” power hitter on the right side looks a lot more confident and comfortable with her spot on the floor. She's got big power and a lot of lift off the floor. She can power through blockers with a fast arm motion, and she's relentless with her blocking effort as well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='442967' first='Addison' last='Stepp'], DS/L South Lyon East/Legacy</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Stepp has already been up against the best hitters in this class around the country during her club experience. That is going to continue to pay off as she develops more leadership skills. She's got the talent to get to nearly every ball and doesn't lose composure during important points. Her teams know they can rely on a strong defensive effort when she's at libero.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='442969' first='Avery' last='Stepp'], S South Lyon East/Legacy</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Stepp has gotten an opportunity to work with a lot of explosive hitters, especially middles. Stepp is able to connect quickly and run an offense that strikes before the defense can be prepared. She's growing into her leadership skills and improving on the details of her game, including location consistency and defense.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='512892' first='Brynn' last='Wilcox'], S Bloomfield Hills/High Performance</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Wilcox is growing into hear leadership skills and becoming more vocal as a setter. She's worked with some very talented hitters that have allowed her to pick up her speed and recognition of where to get the ball. Her sets are getting more accurate and more consistent, allowing her hitters to shine.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='455952' first='Sofie' last='Williams'], OH Oakland Christian/Legacy</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Williams is one of the shining stars in the area from a smaller school, but her skills have shined enough that she can hold her own with any hitter in the class. Williams is able to produce a lot of velocity on her attacks at a consistent level, even on out-of-system swings. She stays composed and measures her timing out well to be a real force at the net.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
