About Soraya

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would describe my gameplay style as smart, scrappy, aggressive, and a next point mentality.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mentality in volleyball is to be a goldfish in the sense that if I made a mistake I already learned from it but it’s out my mind and I’m thinking of the next point and what I can do to help my team get it. My personality is very extroverted I hate seeing people left out so I always try to include and help people when I can.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved National Honor Society, HOSA, and Black Student Union. I have received multiple Honor roll awards for my grades.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed the qualities of being highly understanding of everyone’s situations no matter what they are and figuring out the best way to help people through them.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

A significant challenge I have faced was my sophomore year of high school, I went to a different school, I was in a different and academically challenging program, and just faced challenges socially. This may not seem significant to others but also during this year a very family member of mine was dealing with major mental health issues and lost there life so this had me learn so much and mature.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that will help me grow and develop in volleyball and in my future career that will be ahead of me for the rest of my life after college. I want to have a fun experience that will challenge just enough so I can grow.
