Top Texas Talent Dominates the Pins at the USAV GJNC Showcase II

With USAV Nationals being held in Dallas, and the plethora of talented athletes and teams that call Texas home, it is no surprise that many of the athletes in my notes hailed from Texas. Here is a look at some of the athletes that stood out in my notes app!    Kendall brought the heat at the USAV Showcase. She is a lefty right side that came ready to impress and did just that. She was a physical presence on the court, no matter what drill she was a part of. Her high contact and quick arm swing helped her dominate with power and finesse. When Kendall let it rip, she was tough to stop and was a force on the pin from start to finish.     Brandi's all-around play really impressed me on the right side. She was a blocker with good timing and great court awareness. Brandi got a lot of touches on that, which slowed the ball down for her defense. Her overall presence on the court was confident and reliable. She quickly established herself as a go-to player on the right side and found the floor with a lot of powerhouse line shots     Ja'Mia was one of the younger athletes at the showcase, yet still stood out in great ways. She was a high-flying pin who was crafty with the ball and her shots. I was just waiting for her to achieve a perfect set, and when she did, she executed it with massive power and pinpoint precision. Her shot selection was superb, and she always knew what to do with the ball.     Taylor was another young athlete who took the floor at the showcase, and wow, did she impress. Taylor is a 5'11 lefty rightside with an incredible amount of potential. She took big swings and was an impact player, even as I watched from half a country away. As Taylor continues to play at a high level and compete, she will only continue to elevate her game. Taylor will be a fun player to watch.     Mia wasted no time showing just how dynamic and valuable she was on the court. She filled numerous roles during the showcase. I was most impressed during the scrimmage portion of the showcase, where she was playing out of right back and on the right side. She took numerous swings out of the right back and played successful defense as well. When she rotated into the front row, she was just as successful. Mia was willing to jump in where she was needed, and it benefited her by showing that she is a team player with a huge upside in her ability to play on both pins as well as out of the back row.     Tatum was one of my favorite athletes to emerge from the showcase. She was explosive, gritty, and lethal. Her power was only the start of the huge talent that Tatum possesses. Her shot selection had me nodding my head in agreement. She found seams in blocks and in backcourt defense. Tatum was disciplined in transition and setting herself up for success. She also had a huge presence as a blocker and connected well with the middles she worked with.     Elizabeth was one of the most talented blockers at the showcase. She consistently shut down opposing pins no matter what shot they attempted. Her ability to track the ball and the hitter were superb. She put up an absolute wall at the net. This alone makes her a standout rightside. Add in her ability to terminate on both in and out of system plays as well as consistency in scramble plays, and she truly sets herself apart on the court.     Nya was a massive presence on the court at the showcase. She had huge power could terminate on nearly any set. Her ball control was impressive and she consistently performed at a high clip throughout the event. She adapted well to new drills and as able to jump in and play at a competitive level without missing a beat. Nya caught my eye numerous times. Her high level of play and overall efficiency stood out.
