About Aaliyah

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am active on the court and I move well. My passing is solid and I read the opponents’ offensive plays well. I like to encourage while I’m on the court and I am vocal leader for the defense.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a joy filled person who is easy to get to know. I get along with many different people and enjoy several friendships. I’m easy going and at the same time strong willed. I like to win, so I work hard in order to achieve success.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am on the honor role. I participate in ping-pong club. I serve at my church with the kids.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

As a co-captain and libero for my high school team as a sophomore, I have learned to lead in humility. There are players with more experience and older than myself, yet I still need to lead on the court. I listen and learn how best to respond and lead different people and personalities.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I have dyslexia so my academic journey has been filled with struggle. What takes some individuals minutes to read and process usually takes me twice the amount of time. It can be exhausting, but I have had great teachers who have helped me develop solid skills to succeed.

What type of college are you looking for?

I want to play volleyball! I also want to get an education degree so I can help students succeed like many teachers have helped me. I hope to find a school that is competitive and I can help them win on the court as I pursue an education degree.
