Continue ReadingThe Class of 2020 has been a special one in Wisconsin as well as to Prep Dig. This was one of the first classes to be considered for Class Rankings during their 16s year and plenty of things have changed over the course of two years. There have been plenty of athletes we have added each time with now over 200 ranked in our Class of 2020, and I still know that we miss some. We do our best to add names to our rankings, providing a database for many college coaches to use as a recruiting tool at all levels. Here are athletes who have popped up on the radar or gradually continued to rise in the rankings throughout their careers.
GrocholskiHailey Grocholski – Milwaukee Sting – Kettle Moraine
Committed to Presbyterian
Watching Grocholski at the end of her 17s club season with Sting 17 Black you could see her really striking the ball square and being a powerful force out of the middle. This high school season, she had a Senior year that really sent her to another level being a key piece to the Kettle Moraine squad that advanced to the state tournament. She is a major presence in the middle who can score points and is really hard to defend when she attacks off one foot.
Ella Collins – Milwaukee Sting – Lakeside Lutheran
Committed to Eastern Illinois
When the 16s club season started two years ago I really didn’t know who Ella Collins was. I knew she was on the Lakeside Lutheran team that was coming off a state championship, but seeing her play club with Grocholski at the end of her 17s year along with a commit to Eastern Illinois there was plenty of talent and an all-around game to go with that put her as one of the top pins in her class.
Nikki Censky – Motion Volleyball – Germantown
Committed to UW-Oshkosh
Censky was part of the Motion team that was always full of athletes and has continued to rise with her ability to be so versatile as an attacker and now as a six rotation player. She can score points out of the middle or blast on the pin. She will be part of a really strong recruiting class at UW-Oshkosh.
BaierlHolly Baierl – FC Eliter Flyers – Luxemburg-Casco
Committed to UW-Oshkosh
Baierl was a miss for us early on, but her Senior year was one to make a big time statement being named All State and being a key piece to the state title run for Luxemburg-Casco along with setter Bekah Day (UW-Stevens Point) and Cassie Flynn (Northwestern College – St. Paul). These athletes have left quite a legacy at L-C and will be such a great Division 3 fit at the next level.
Kaycee Meiners – Capital Volleyball Academy – DeForest
Committed to Michigan Tech
Meiners has really climbed up the rankings as well showing how physical, athletic, and dynamic she can be as a middle blocker. Meiners is part of a strong recruiting class out of Wisconsin that also features Katherine Walch (Notre Dame – FC Elite) and Lauren Richards (Appleton West- Impact VBC)
RabeSydney Rabe – FC Elite – Wabeno
Committed to Green Bay
Wabeno is 90 miles North of Green Bay, perfect territory if you’re looking for a North Woods getaway. Rabe is touching ten feet and will be heading to Green Bay where she has a major upside to offer. Playing with FC Elite 18-Elite against Open level competition is really going to benefit her in the long run.
Sam Miller – Capital Volleyball Academy – Waunakee (Title Photo)
Committed to Augustana
Miller has always been part of great teams at Waunakee and Capital. This past high school season she was a huge part of the success of Waunakee especially after they took a huge loss to graduation. Extremely consistent and reliable, Miller will head to Augustana in Sioux Falls, SD which is part of the Northern Sun, but will start the move to Division 1.
Kristen Anderson – Capital Volleyball Academy – Sun Prairie
Uncommitted
Anderson was a role player for Sun Prairie in 2019 and had a really dominant Senior season for the Cardinals making a return trip to the state tournament. She was a scoring threat, but also a major defensive presence where she can touch nearly 10 feet out of the middle and knows how to time and press to execute a block.
