About Imani

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a quick-thinking, coachable setter with strong court awareness. I love leading the offense, I’m calm under pressure, and always looking to encourage my teammates and make my hitters shine. My favorite is when I can make smart plays that shift the game in our favor.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m a lighthearted, positive leader who brings energy and encouragement to the court. As a player who is vocal on and off the court, I believe in lifting others up and leading with kindness and support, especially when things get tough

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I was the most recent choir president at CRMS. A 3-Yr. member of the A Capella team. I am a two-time ACDA national honors choir singer, as well as a 2024 All State-ILMEA choir singer. I've been in two school musical productions and was selected for numerous (~10) solos throughout middle school. In high school I will continue with A Capella, Chamber choir, Madrigals and of course club Volleyball!

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

As a team captain, I’ve developed strong leadership and organization skills by planning team events and helping build team chemistry. I also volunteer for my parent’s nonprofit, helping with youth programs and local community events. I’m responsible, mature, a fast learner, and someone who takes initiative—I don’t wait to be told what to do

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is stepping into leadership as a young player. As an underclassman, I want to earn respect while staying true to my positive and encouraging leadership style. I am learning how to lead with confidence and stay grounded, even when it feels like I have something to prove. Staying humble and knowing when to advocate for myself is a constant battle.

What type of college are you looking for?

My dream college has a competitive volleyball team, an impressive music program, is located near a (swimmable) body of water, in an affordable small city that offers tons to do! I would like the school to provide scholarships, travel opportunities, a lively student-life (plenty of Orgs), and secure, spacious clean housing. Pet friendly areas are a plus!
