About Sawyer

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am very aggressive and excited to play. I want to win and be the best I can be and I never give up on the court. I am very scrappy and don’t give up on balls easily. I play with passion and love uplifting my teammates.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am very much a person who strives to be the best and always work hard no matter what. I am very hard on myself which makes me very eager to work harder each day. My personality is very driven and determined. I’m quick to reflect on my mistakes but also ready to learn how to improve my game. I have a great balance of when to be serious and when I can be silly.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am in National Junior Honors Society I have received a school wide award for being open minded and organized.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have learned How to lead in the right way without making others feel bad about them selves. I have learned to be the light on the court and inspire others. With NJHS I volunteered at elementary schools for many different events. With my club team we volunteered at a food ministry for homeless and completed beach clean ups.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I have not had many major problems but I did break my ankle in march of this year and that set me back a lot. I stayed as positive as I could during that time and not playing was very hard for me. I ended up being able to come back and finish the last 4 tournaments of the season. I even took a new role becoming a setter which was challenging but I will forever be grateful for the opportunity.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that has great academics along with a great athletic program. I want to go to a school that makes me feel comfortable and safe but challenges me to become better in all aspects of my life.
