About Lainey

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I play with relentless energy, never giving up on a point, no matter the score or situation! I'm the type of player who dives for every ball, hustles on every play, and encourages my teammates to keep pushing. I'm a team player, and I love my team. As a result, we gel and do so well together.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My personality on the court is intense and focused, but also uplifting. I believe in leading by example, and lifting up my teammates with my energy and drive. I am humble amongst my friends who are on different levels of volleyball teams, and I am very supportive. At the end of the day, I want to win and be a part of a successful team and program.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in a volleyball club known as Ultimate. This is outside of school. Within school, I have participated in the basketball team (receiving MVP and all-conference recognitions), the volleyball team (receiving MVP and all-conference recognitions), and track team.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I am a leader on the court trying to uplift my team. I work well with others, and I am very kind. I have worked and volunteered in many youth volleyball camps and programs in my community, helping teach the younger athletes the skills of volleyball. I am reliable, responsible, and enjoy helping others learn about the game that I love.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

As an incoming freshman in high school, I was kindly asked to play with the varsity program in a summer league. I was very nervous and a little intimidated because I wanted to do well. I played my game and proved to the older girls I could perform. I feel that I showed maturity amongst them and they have all taken me under their wings. My teammates are very supportive of me being on varsity.

What type of college are you looking for?

It is my dream to play collegiate volleyball. I want to be a part of a collegiate program that supports athletes with their academic goals. I have loved my coaches and thrive with people that have faith in me.
