Christiana Montoya plays outside hitter like someone who wants the ball in the biggest moments, but what she’s built this season is less about the swing itself and more about what happens after one doesn’t go her way. She used to fight frustration when a play broke down. Now, working off feedback to slow the game down mentally and trust the work she’s already put in, she resets fast and moves straight to the next play, and that discipline shows up in her passing, her defense, and how she leads her side of the court.

The moment she’s proudest of wasn’t a single big attack. It was a long, grinding rally where she stayed composed, made a defensive save, and finished the exchange herself, the kind of point that asks an athlete to do everything right for longer than usual. She came away from camp with real clarity about what separates good competitors from great ones at a higher level: communicating under pressure, making fast decisions, and trusting her training instead of overthinking it. Heading into her final middle school season, she’s aiming to round out her game further, sharpening her attacking, her serve receive, and her volleyball IQ, while continuing to train alongside older players who push her pace.
