The 2020 march to being the best continued for Legacy 15-1 Adidas this past weekend at the Sunshine Volleyball Classic in Orlando, as the unbeaten squad added another championship to its trophy collection.

Along with the play of 15-1 Adidas, other Legacy programs also had some standout performances down south.

15-1 Adidas runs the table again

The young squad moved to 4-for-4 on championships in 2020 by going 10-0 this past weekend and dropping just two sets along the way. The nation’s top-ranked 15’s squad looked especially strong in the championship, earning a 25-19, 25-21 win over South Coast Volleyball.

[player_tooltip player_id="66319" first="Harper" last="Murray"] posted another impressive weekend, racking up a team-high 78 kills as a dominant outside. [player_tooltip player_id="66292" first="Rebecca" last="Apsey"] continues to be a perfect compliment on the right side. She finished the event with 64 kills and 10 blocks. [player_tooltip player_id="66309" first="Nina" last="Horning"], another outside option for Legacy, posted 47 kills while middle [player_tooltip player_id="66291" first="Laurece" last="Abraham"] had 29 kills with 14 blocks. Middle Abby Reck chipped in with 32 kills and six blocks. [player_tooltip player_id="66313" first="Erin" last="Kline"] was on point at setter, running the offense while picking up 10 aces and 12 blocks.

In the back Kaitlyn Hoffman, [player_tooltip player_id="66295" first="Allison" last="Berent"] and [player_tooltip player_id="66340" first="Sarah" last="Vellucci"] controlled the defense, as Legacy passed a 2.3 for the entire tournament.

15-1 Adidas will be back in action on March 20-22 for the MidEast National Qualifier in Indianapolis.

16-1 Adidas wins Open Silver Bracket

Legacy 16-1 Adidas was in the mix this past weekend as well, going 6-2 for the weekend to place ninth and win the Silver Bracket of the Open Division. Their lone two losses were to H Skyline 16 Black and MadFrog 16’S N Green. 16-1 Adidas closed out the weekend with a 25-19, 24-26, 15-10 win over Club Unite 16 Eric.

Leading the team this past weekend with outside [player_tooltip player_id="24881" first="Sydney" last="Tomlak"], who continues to make big strides as a six-rotation option. She takes on a lot of passing on defense while also is the go-to hitting option at the net. In the middle, [player_tooltip player_id="24843" first="Cari" last="Bohm"] is also making big strides. The 6’4” Class of 2022 option led the squad this weekend in blocks and hitting percentage.

[player_tooltip player_id="24847" first="Audrey" last="Brown"] also looked strong on the outside while finishing at a high percentage, while [player_tooltip player_id="24842" first="Josie" last="Bloom"] anchored the back row at libero and continued to play at a high level.

18-1 Adidas wins Open Bronze Bracket

Legacy 18-1 Adidas also put up a top-10 finish this past weekend, placing ninth in the Open by winning the bronze bracket in Orlando. Legacy went 7-1 for the weekend, suffering only a 26-24, 25-19 loss to OVA 18 Black. The team wasn’t quite at full strength, as RS [player_tooltip player_id="14112" first="Lauren" last="King"] (VCU) was out due to a concussion and libero [player_tooltip player_id="49385" first="Kennedy" last="Dolmage"] (Oakland) was fighting off an illness. Still the team came away with a 25-23, 25-20 win over OT 18 T Dexter in the bronze bracket final.

Outside [player_tooltip player_id="14097" first="Kendall" last="Murray"] (Michigan) had a big weekend, leading the team in kills while being one of the tops in passing efficiency alongside DS [player_tooltip player_id="49384" first="Paige" last="Gallentine"] (Tennessee-Chattanooga). Middle Ellie Ruprich (South Carolina) hit .447 for the weekend and led the team in blocks while setter [player_tooltip player_id="14092" first="Alexa" last="Rousseau"] (Northwestern) ran the offense and led the team in assists.
