As the story continues on the revamped Nebraska Capitol Conference in 2020, check out these new teams and faces of the incoming teams – Conestoga, Logan View/Scribner-Snyder, Louisville, and Yutan. Current members include Ashland-Greenwood, Arlington, DC West, Fort Calhoun, Raymond Central, and Syracuse.
It’s too early to hear about incoming freshmen or players making that step from reserve or JV, but teams look to reload and rebuild off of current varsity players.
NEW MEMBERS
Conestoga – Class C1, 2019 Record 4-29 – exiting East Central Nebraska Conference (ECNC), the Cougars lose three seniors and have taken some knocks in the last few years. As with many other teams in the NCC, many teams start young and end on a high note their junior and senior seasons. Look to juniors Naomi Simmones (HM ECNC), Mya Cummings, sophomores Lindee Watson (HM ECNC) and setter Reagan Mcpeek to provide some leadership.
Logan View/ Scribner-Snyder – Class C1, 2019 Record 17-15 – exiting East Husker Conference – Driving south in the future rather than north, the Lady Raiders will have a big change in schedule. Although they saw a lot of competition in the EHC, LVSS is the only team in the NCC without a returning varsity setter. Sophomore all-around Dream Daugherty (3rd team EHC) will be aided by junior hitter Kristal Svehla to give the Lady Raiders some guidance.

Returning with varsity experience is sophomore setter Lea Kalkowski (HM ECNC) and junior McKenzie Norris. Kalkowski mentions that she will miss competing against Malcolm for a conference title but is excited to be playing new teams.
In her second year as head coach, Megan Barnes comments on her upcoming season, “We have some big shoes to fill for the 2020 season. We will be looking for young players to step into big roles. We’re excited to see who is going to step up for us. I believe we have the young players to do just that.”
Yutan – Class C2, 2019 Record 14-16 – exiting ECNC – Except for sophomore Haley Bedlan (3rd team ECNC), the Cheiftans lose a lot of their attack at the net. Look to defensive play by junior Maya Hays, sophomores Christina Kerkman and setter Heidi Krajicek.
