The first part is an interview with Molly Ramsey. The junior played libero this past fall for the Titans, who appeared in the state semi-finals and had a hard fought match against eventual State Champion Omaha Skutt Catholic. Molly plays club volleyball for Nebraska Juniors 17 Black. She is committed to play volleyball for the Kansas State Wildcats. Her volleyball honors include two Team District Championships, three Team EMC Tournament Championships, 1st team all-state, and EMC all conference during her tenure so far at Norris. Watching her this fall I was really impressed with her tenacity on the floor and the amount of energy she brings to her team. Her ability to keep her team in system makes her one of the best liberos in the state. Not only is she a great volleyball player, she made a huge impact as the point guard on the state bound Lady Titan basketball team, who nearly knocked off the eventual State Champion Crete Cardinals in the first round with an double overtime loss. Ramsey also competes in soccer where she made the EMC all conference team and was all-state honorable mention pick. Off the court or field she is on Student Council and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
I asked her a few questions about how she manages all of her sports, academics and activities at such a high level of success. Here are her responses from the interview:
How do you manage school/sports/activities and are successful in all of them? There is not a lot of free time and you have to manage your time very effectively, but it helps that I play sports with my best-friends so I never really feel like I’m missing out on the social part of life. My biggest piece of advice is to be very organized and use class time effectively.
What support systems have you used to juggle all of these things? My parents help me tremendously just with all the scheduling and reminders of important events. I also try to write all the schedules down before the season starts so I can take a quick glance every week and know what I have coming up.
What advice would you give to younger girls looking up and seeing you do all of these activities and excelling at them?: My biggest piece of advice is to stay active and get involved with multiple teams and multiple programs. I’ve been so blessed to learn so many life lessons from all the sports I’ve played and the people I’ve met along the way. I would’ve never done that if I would’ve stuck to a single sport when I was younger.

What do you do for fun or when you have free time? I love love hanging out with all my friends, some of my favorite things to do is bake, play board games, or have movie nights. I also love to be outdoors, four-wheeling and playing sports outside is one of my favorite things to do. Lastly, I love the lake in the summer time. All the activities and family time spent out there has given me some unforgettable memories.
Do you have a hobby or something that you enjoy that people might not know about you? I love to bake!! Cake pops are probably my favorite thing to make, but I love trying new recipes.
Obviously you three (you, Brianna, Kalli) have played volleyball and basketball together the past 3 years. How do you think that playing together and doing multiple activities has helped your success, team chemistry and bond? I’ve been so lucky at Norris because I not only get to play volleyball with my best friends, but they play basketball with me too!! I think this really helps us as an overall team because we all know when someone is having a rough day and we know how to cheer them up. We have all sorts of team jokes that carry over to both seasons and we often use those jokes before games or practices which helps us relax and have fun, which is normally when we play our best.
As you can see Molly has a juggled lots of different activities at a high level. When I asked her when she sleeps, she replied, “NEVER”! She is a great role model for younger girls to look up to to compete in multiple sports and activities at your school. It takes organization, and discipline to do all of these things well!
