About Maliyah

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a competitive and smart player who brings consistency and energy to every point. I adapt quickly and can play any position my team needs. I take pride in being a dependable all-around athlete who communicates well and works hard to keep the team connected.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m a coachable player with a team-first mindset. I stay calm under pressure, push myself to improve, and lead by example through effort and attitude. Whether I’m on or off the court, I stay focused, encouraging, and ready to compete.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I’m involved in school and community events and was recognized with an academic honor roll award last school year. I balance athletics with academics and stay active in other school activities when not in-season.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Being one of the youngest on varsity has taught me a lot about leadership, listening, and work ethic. I’ve learned how to communicate with older teammates, stay positive in tough matches, and help lift others up. I also volunteer at youth sports events and camps when I can.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Competing at the varsity level as a freshman came with pressure, but it’s pushed me to grow fast; both mentally and physically. I’ve had to earn my spot, work through tough games, and stay focused on my goals even when the learning curve feels steep.

What type of college are you looking for?

m keeping an open mind as I explore different programs, but I’m driven to compete at the highest level I can. I’m looking for a college that challenges me both on the court and in the classroom—where I can grow as a player, contribute to a competitive team, and be part of a strong, supportive culture.

On the pin, she can score off high hands or rip cross-court shots that make defenders scramble. In the middle, she’s quick off her feet and aggressive when sealing blocks, bringing plenty of grit to the net. Her game style is built on being fearless — she doesn’t back down against bigger opponents and thrives in competitive moments.
