Conference Check-In: Ohio Capital-Capital

This a conference that features some big arms. At this point of the season the league title is a three-team race as Big Walnut is currently unbeaten at 8-0 (14-3) overall. A one loss Dublin Scioto team is on their heels at 8-1 (13-4 overall) as their only conference loss was a 3-2 defeat to Big Walnut earlier this month. They will meet again on October 7th. The third team in the mix is Worthington Kilbourne at 6-3 in league play (13-4 overall). WKHS battled Dublin Scioto to a 3-2 loss in their second contest of the season, which was an improvement from their earlier meeting. They will meet up with Big Walnut again this week. Here are some of the key prospects among stat leaders in the Ohio Capital-Capital .    Ross is a 6'0 currently on her average from a season ago just ahead of three kills per set. She is Dublin Scioto's top offensive threat and is among the top five kills leaders in the league. The 6'0 senior is explosive through quick options as she can get up well to contact high above the tape. Her balance in the air through that action creates good success when she's able to swing towards the edges of the block. Defensively, she is also among league leaders in blocking at a 2.6 b/m average.     Big Walnut, the league leader in the standings, is led by a trio of hitters that are all fairly equal in their production. Hamilton is the team's top threat by a handful of kills as she is averaging a team best 2.8 kills per set, which lands her among the league's top five attackers. Hamilton is also among team leaders defensively at 9.5 d/m. At 5'7, her athleticism if evident in her full range of skills on both sides of the ball.     The 6'0 senior is doing it all for the Wolves. Second on the team offensively at 2.1 k/s, she leads them in efficiency at .367. She has been a mainstay for their defense throughout her varsity career as she has a career average of 3.8 b/m. So far in 2025, she has 78 total blocks for a career high 4.6 b/m average. Her blocking prowess along with her 45 service aces this season lead the league. Routh is committed to Lipscomb.     With 195 total kills at this point of the season, Sharps has surpassed her total from a season ago. Her career high 4.3 k/s leads the league offensively. She also has 109 digs and 42 service aces. The 6'1 pin is an effective attacker from either side of the court. Her club season proved her ability to score on the right pin as she is displaying more of her arm and impact from the left side with WSHS. She uses her length well to contact and swing high or to cut the ball through space.     Davis is another high performer in the league as she is second overall offensively with 183 total kills. She is well ahead of her 2024 pace as she is averaging a career best 3.8 k/s. She is also contributing 9.5 d/m. At 5'9, Davis is an aggressive hitter with big arm action in the air that includes speed and terrific control and shot-making. This is due to her patience and footwork that gets her to the ball well to sustain her aggressiveness both in and out of system. Davis is committed to the University of Findlay.
