Everything is Definitely Bigger in Texas Vol. 2

In the last article we discussed four talented players from the Houston area that are prototypical height players that college coaches love to have on their rosters. There are plenty of these young ladies in this great state. We are going to cover many in different cities. Every coach has used the quote, “You can’t teach height” at least once in their life. These young ladies have the height that college coaches drool over. Since Texas has its fair share of players over 6 feet tall, I figured I would keep a series of articles highlighting these players. Without further ado, here are the players from a different area of Texas in volume 2:

[caption id="attachment_89427" align="alignright" width="234"] Photo Credit: SportsRecruits - SA Magic[/caption]
[player_tooltip player_id="87404" first="Elise" last="McGhee"] [2021] 6-3 Middle (HS: Clark/Club: SA Magic/ Verbal: Baylor)

Elise comes in ranked as the #16 volleyball player in the state of Texas according to our Prep Dig rankings. The six foot three middle from San Antonio Clark High School has committed to Baylor University. She is a dominant force at the net for her San Antonio Magic Volleyball club team. Her formidable size shuts down opposing attackers. She shows great offensive skills as she tallied 508 kills for her high school team this past season. She plays both right side and middle for them. She has played on the varisty team since she was a freshman and has a total of 903 kills and 369 blocks in her three year career at Clark. She will very easily pass the 1000 career kill mark next year in her senior season. The Big 12 Conference and Baylor will be getting a great young lady to represent their volleyball program.

[caption id="attachment_89428" align="alignleft" width="237"] Photo Credit: SportsRecruits - SA Magic[/caption]
[player_tooltip player_id="87406" first="Kyla" last="Solis"] [2021] 6-3 Middle (HS: Medina Valley/Club: SA Magic/Verbal: Clemson)

Kyla comes in ranked as the 18thbest volleyball player in the state of Texas according to our Prep Dig rankings. This tall drink of water is a force to be reckoned with. Pairing up with another 6-3 middle that we just mentioned [player_tooltip player_id="87404" first="Elise" last="McGhee"] at SA Magic, this pair dominates at the net. Standing at six foot three, you would expect her to be a little slower on her approach, however she shines getting off of the ground very quickly. She has had a whip of an arm swing for years. It’s her first year with Magic after being with small San Antonio club Top Gun before. She is committed to Clemson and will do great things for them. She is a true prototypical middle for a college program. I’m excited to cover her for the rest of this year and also her senior year.

[player_tooltip player_id="87407" first="Bre" last="Kelley"] [2021] 6-3 Middle (HS: Rockwall Heath/Club: Excel/Verbal: Florida)

Miss Kelley comes in ranked as the 19thbest volleyball player in the state of Texas according to our Prep Dig rankings. This Florida commit is worth the price of admission. She was named to the USA Volleyball youth national team. She helped the USA take home the gold at the NORCECA Championships and qualify for Worlds. Florida has some great volleyball players in its state, so when a player from Texas is recruited to one of the best programs in the country, it says a lot about the player. She is the real deal who can touch 10’5” with her approach vertical. She is a very gifted athlete who hits with so much power. We are looking forward to watching her play college volleyball in a few years on television and with her time on the youth national team.

Be on the lookout for the rest of this series as we tap into more players who are blessed to be tall and play with such great skills. Stay tuned for more players in our next article.
