How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I would describe my gameplay as a mix of strategic positioning and very high energy execution. I focus heavily on the fundamentals as well as great team communication. As a teammate, I strive to excel at delivering a strong set or pass to put my teammates in the best position to have a powerful attack. I have great tenacity and love for this game and will always work to improve my skill set.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I’m very dedicated to my team and will always encourage my teammates to do their best. I will not give up and always do everything I can to help out my team. In my off time, I work on my fundamentals to improve on my skills and abilities. I want to be the very best that I can be for my team and will always work on improving my game. I absolutely love the game of volleyball and very invested in it.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I’m currently involved in choir, the school musical every year as well as basketball, softball, golf, and volleyball. I was also awarded a Jerry award for my musical performance in high school. I also got to be invited to perform in the Jerry Awards show for that. It was held in Madison, WI.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
Between my eighth grade to freshman year, I hurt my knee and had to have surgery so I was out before the season started. I still wanted to be a part of the team so I asked what I could do to do so. I served as the JV and Varsity team manager during the entire season. I continually cheered on my team from the bench and was at every game to help in any way I could.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
Before my freshman season, I hurt my knee and had to have surgery so I wasn’t able to play. I made sure I went to all of my PT and did everything I could to heal up so I could get back out on the court. It was countless weeks of going once a week to Madison, WI for PT as well as doing my exercises at home. I worked very hard to make a full recovery and get back on the court to help my team.
What type of college are you looking for?
I’m looking for a college that provides a strong academic foundation for my goals as well as a great volleyball program. I want the school to have a strong sense of community that takes pride in it. I ultimately hope to find a supportive and inclusive campus culture where I won't only excel in my studies, but also excel at extracurricular activities such as volleyball.
