The season may be winding down, but the stakes are only getting higher! We've made it past week 2 of the MHSAA Tournament and things are becoming real here in the Mitten state.

The Regional rounds were not ones for the weak. In the march to the regional title, we saw more upsets, more stars emerge and a lot of big time storylines take place. We have just one more game left until we're under the bright lights of Kellogg Arena and where we will crown Four champions across the MHSAA Divisions.

In this update, there was a lot of electric outings from some of Michigan's best. So much so, we have to split it between the four divisions. So, in the fashion of the Semifinals set up, we're going to look at D2 and D3 next as they will be second round up in Battle Creek this Friday.

In case you missed the highlights from earlier this week, make sure to take a look at the Top Performers from the Round of 32 in the MHSAA Playoffs.
[player_tooltip player_id='226888' first='Aubree' last='Deshetsky'] - North Branch

Despite the losing effort, it is needless to say that we have seen the conclusion of one heck of a career from [player_tooltip player_id='226888' first='Aubree' last='Deshetsky']. From a program as incredibly deep as North Branch's has become over the years, the things that Deshetsky has been able to achieve is very much second to none. In one last match in the Bronco jersey, Deshetsky went out with a bang, banging away 30 kills in the five set classic adding to that, 11 digs.

[player_tooltip player_id='574175' first='Payton' last='Woodruff'] - Detroit Country Day

There is very few players that can make such an impact to the court as that of [player_tooltip player_id='574175' first='Payton' last='Woodruff']'s. She may be quite the small force, but she is one nonetheless. Woodruff showcased just why she is one the top prospects in Michigan in Detroit Country Day's reverse sweep over North Branch. The setter paced her team to a real strong, balanced offensive output that proved to outlast the Broncos. Behind Woodruff's 50 assists, a bulk of which came in the second half of the match, DCD was able to 'upset' the No. 1 team for a second year in a row.

[player_tooltip player_id='450415' first='Leah' last='Green'] - Detroit Country Day

This is a player that I feel we don't talk about enough. [player_tooltip player_id='450415' first='Leah' last='Green'] is quite silent assassin on the court, but she can definitely get you from multiple angles. Behind [player_tooltip player_id='446702' first='Elise' last='Hiemstra'], Green was able to lock away 13 kills in the five set match. Her production through the middle of the court proved timely when Country Day needed it most. Even more effective was her defense at the net though, Green was a showstopper nearly putting up a double-double night, with 7 blocks throughout the 5 sets.

[player_tooltip player_id='226895' first='Jillian' last='Ferrill'] - Lake Fenton

When I first saw these numbers coming out of Lake Fenton, I had to pick my jaw up off the floor. [player_tooltip player_id='226895' first='Jillian' last='Ferrill'] has been a talent I have been well aware of for years now, but this? This is next level. When not only your season is on the line, but your career, Ferrill is going out with a bang, win or lose. In this one, Ferrill was the driving force in Lake Fenton's detonation over Goodrich. In four sets, Ferrill sent 33 bombs over the net to go along with 14 digs in the affair.

[player_tooltip player_id='828524' first='Emma' last='Eldred'] - Tecumseh

I thought this match was going to be more on the side of North Branch/Country Day's classic status. Both teams were coming into each other with a lot of steam behind them and surely made for one epic match. However, [player_tooltip player_id='828524' first='Emma' last='Eldred'] had other plans and she was going to be denied a shot to Kellogg Arena, at least not yet. In sweeping fashion over Parma Western, Eldred knocked down over 20 kills in the match to lead all scorers. Her overall play proved to be all too much for PW to withstand.

Eldred was a standout in last year's Final Four and it shows. The experience she garnered in these kind of moments shined bright on the court on Thursday.

[player_tooltip player_id='226889' first='Madeline' last='Dettling'] - St. Mary Catholic Central

This may not have been the most ideal of seasons for [player_tooltip player_id='226889' first='Madeline' last='Dettling']. Dealing with injuries for a huge chunk of the season, Dettling missed a great deal of the regular season. But what better time to come back then now? And she is back, better than ever. With a 24 kill performance in the sweep over Hanover Horton, Dettling has put herself on pace to averaging 20 kills per game so far in the play offs. This kind of production and efficiency that Dettling is teeing off with is not something you want to hear if you are postseason foes, Plymouth Christian.

[player_tooltip player_id='516948' first='Lola' last='Brown'] - Traverse City St. Francis

Traverse City St. Francis is well on its way to yet another appearance in Kellogg Arena. A lot of that is in large part to the emergence of [player_tooltip player_id='516948' first='Lola' last='Brown'] in the middle. This 6'2 middle blocker has been absolute dominant throughout the entire fall, but kicking things up a notch in the post season. In the Gladiators recent Regional Championship victory, Brown put down ten kills in the sweep to go along with multiple blocks, absolutely own the net.

[player_tooltip player_id='833201' first='Jenna' last='Middleton'] - Kingsley

While TCSF has their sights set on Battle Creek, so does [player_tooltip player_id='833201' first='Jenna' last='Middleton'] and Kingsley, and the two groups have a date set up in the Quarterfinals. And if I am the Gladiators, I am not looking to see Middleton and upset minded Kingsley on the other side of the net. Just this week, Kingsley took down No. 10 and No. 1 in the division. After another double-double night for Middleton, putting down 14 kills and 10 digs against No. 10 Beal City, Kingsley will look to have their way against the fellow Northern Michigan squad.

[player_tooltip player_id='805267' first='Eliana' last='Keller'] - Kalamazoo Christian

Kalamazoo Christian is on quite the hot streak these last few years and despite losing such top notch talent every year, they remain well within the mix. The super star this year keeping them in the race back to the Creek? [player_tooltip player_id='805267' first='Eliana' last='Keller']. Keller was absolutely sensational against former powerhouse Bronson in the Sweet Sixteen. In a sweep, Keller averaged over 5 kills per set to dismantle Bronson.

[player_tooltip player_id='732275' first='Annika' last='Platte'] - Pewamo-Westphalia

Speaking of teams with very rich recent history, Pewamo-Westphalia is one of those teams that has been very much in the conversation for the elites in Division 3. [player_tooltip player_id='732275' first='Annika' last='Platte'] leads this squad to their fifth consecutive regional championship. Sweeping North Muskegon, the six rotation attacker logged 16 kills on the net to go with nearly 10 digs.

[player_tooltip player_id='226897' first='Charlotte' last='Gramzow'] - Lutheran Northwest

Once [player_tooltip player_id='226897' first='Charlotte' last='Gramzow'] got into a groove, there was simply no stopping her. In a turn of events, after trailing two sets to none, Gramzow and Lutheran Northwest stunned the three time semifinalists, Cass City. This has become somewhat of a perennial match between the two squads. Whether it be in the regional rounds or in the quarter finals, these teams have always seemed to clash. However, of all those meet ups, not a single time has it gone the way of the crusaders. That changed on Tuesday.

Behind the play of Gramzow, Northwest was able to avenge the last few years of post seasons ending at the hands of the hawks. The libero turned outside hitter was able to notch a double double outing with nearly 20 kills and 20 digs in the reverse sweep of Cass City.
