For the final set of players from the class of 2028, we turn to the ever-important defensive specialists/liberi. First contact in ANY capacity has to be exceptional in this day and age, and now that both club and college allow for two liberi to be listed on a lineup sheet, it's even more important to nail that first pass. Here are six athletes coming to the Exposure Tour in less than a week that should prove to be necessary for the drills to continue.

Reagan is a Munciana-trained DS/L from volleyball blue-blood Cathedral, making her mark as a fleet-footed DS with eyes on wearing the special jersey. Her active feet, combined with a calm platform, make her one of the better serve receivers in this class, and her open-level schedule in club (and tough schedule in high school) allow her the experience to improve those skills daily.

Taller than Reagan, Kendal is a solid defender in this class that does best when she's middle back and can read/react to hard-driven attacks. I like her more as a defensive libero in the two-libero set, yet her serve receive is just fine for a Division I stable of DS's. More experienced than a lot of defensive specialists in attendance next week, you could do a lot worse than Kendall in this class.

A left-back queen for Eureka High School out of Illinois, Krissa uses fast footwork and a relentless work ethic to get to every ball. She'll take a good amount of free balls with her hands, ensuring an accurate first contact to her setter. On defense, her read-and-react is some of the better skills that I've seen from this part of Illinois, and can turn a second contact into a hittable ball for her hitters. I'm looking forward to how she stacks up against other defenders of her caliber.

One of the taller defenders in this (or any) class in Indiana, Sophia's ability to understand her own athletic acuity and mesh it with the needs of the teammates around her make her one of the DS's I'm featuring here. Need someone to receive serve in half the court? Ask Sophia. Hard-driven ball coming your way? Miss Rios ensures her fellow defenders know what their role is. She's a second coach on the floor, which is nice to have and not worry about. Leadership in this position is hard to come by, and Sophia easily fits the mold.

From WAY up north, Megan is a leader at every level she's played, in either high school or club. The training she's receiving at Boiler Juniors solidifies the passing prowess she already has, while being a captain on multiple teams further adds to her skill set as a leader, both on and off the court.

New to me, but not to the sport, Viv is a solid, consistent and active defender from Homestead High School in the Fort Wayne area. With her club team Empowered, Miss Egbert has seen some high-end scheduling during her time, and plays with a calmness that's refreshing when the convention center is loud and chaotic. Her fast feet, combined with a smooth platform, allow her to receive serve consistently, which is much needed these days to stay in tempo.
