About Ashlynn
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I am starting my 5th year of club volleyball and I currently play at ProPlay. Previously I have been a pin hitter which has allowed me to gain court awareness and become the setter I am now. My gameplay style is connecting with my hitters and finding out which sets suit them best, and telling them open spots I see on the court, or patterns that I see scoring.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I have a very competitive mentality and I love winning. I always find places to improve, which allows me to keep working hard on myself. I believe that people should set goals so that they have something to work towards and give them motivation.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I am a member of the National Charity League, Yorba Linda Chapter. The year that I served as president of the class of 2027, I earned the Modelette Award that recognizes a person from each class that best models the accomplishments of NCL. In school I am am member the National Honors Society and have received the Academic Mustang Achievement Award (GPA over 4.0) as a Freshman and Sophomore.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
I have learned that to have teamwork, everyone has to do their part. Last club season, our team had a very strong bond and we could rely on each other and have trust that every one will do their part. As a leader I have learned that you have to create relationships with teammates to create trust. Being a leader is not just telling people what to do, it is leading by example.
What type of college are you looking for?
I am looking for colleges where I can have a balance between volleyball and academics, which are both equally important to me. Also, I want to feel safe and create meaningful friendships. I want to focus on a mathematics degree in finance or accounting. An ideal college for me would be close enough to home where I can come and visit on weekends or holidays.
