About Avery

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would describe my gameplay style as competitive. I will always do what it takes to win, even if that means cheering on the bench.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I always look to the next thing. If I mess up, instead of feeling embarrassed, I think about how I can improve.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I’m involved in a mother-daughter Bible study club every other Sunday. I always volunteer to help out at my church, and I have earned many rewards for my past stem projects.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed many skills, a big one being patience. It takes much patience to know that you’re not going to be perfect right away. Whether that’s volleyball, academics, or in general. I have also developed community service. Ever since I started giving back to my community, schools, and churches, I feel proud of myself and accomplished that I did something productive and positive.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes, I have faced many challenges. My biggest obstacle in life was having to adapt to new homes. I have moved states three times and had over ten homes. It’s hard to leave everybody and everything you’re comfortable with. But if I’ve learned anything from volleyball, it’d be that the only way to get where you want to be is to be uncomfortable and adapt.

What type of college are you looking for?

I would like a college that takes academics and sports seriously, and also a college with good moral values.
