Ask Sofia-Rose “SR” Husband what’s translating right now and she’ll give you three answers without hesitating: where she places the ball on offense, the energy she brings regardless of the score, and her ability to read a setter’s tendencies fast enough to get into position for a block. That third piece is the one she’s proudest of, the kind of skill that only shows up as a stat line but starts as film study and repetition.

At Nationals, that reading ability turned into a set-winning stuff block against a hitter her team had faced multiple times that season, a clean payoff for reps most people never see.

This summer she’s touring campuses at South Carolina, Notre Dame, Pepperdine, and Cal while tightening her approach timing for a faster tempo offense and working on her vertical three days a week with Marymount’s pre-season program.

Off the court, she’s protective of the parts of her life that have nothing to do with volleyball: she reads constantly and wants her team relationships to be real friendships first.
