Halbleib was the top available setter in the Class of 2021 in Wisconsin. 6’2, left handed, and extremely athletic, Halbleib has found success at Sun Prairie High School with back to back state tournament appearances. Prep Dig was able to catch up a bit with Josie after giving her verbal commitment with some questions on her recruiting process, quarantine, as well as a few to get to know Josie a little better.
How would you describe your recruiting process?
[player_tooltip player_id="80718" first="Josie" last="Halbleib"] setting for SP.My 15s year when I started getting recruited I was not sure what I wanted or where I wanted to go. I loved getting to talk to many new people and visit new places which gave me a good idea of what I really wanted in a college along with a volleyball program. That made it the best feeling when choosing K-State because I knew it was the perfect fit for me. Overall, my recruiting process had many ups and downs, but in the end it has been one of the most rewarding things I have ever done.
How did you know that K-State was the place for you?
I felt an instant connection with the coaching staff and the second I got on campus I felt like it was home.
What were some of the most important factors weighing in your recruiting?
I felt like it was really important to find a place that feels like my home away from home and have a support system that helps set me up for success in the future.
What was a good piece of recruiting advice you received?
Be patient and find a school that really wants you.
What is your routine like to stay engaged with volleyball along with virtual school?
I like to wake up earlier in the morning to workout and do my daily setting routine so I can get a good start on my day. After, I usually do my school work for the day and talk to some of my teachers. Also, to get to some actual playing with my friends, I’ve been playing A LOT of grass/beach volleyball.
