About Marcus

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a sophomore setter from Windermere, FL, graduating in 2028. I’m passionate about volleyball and love leading my team on and off the court. As a setter, I love running an efficient offense and staying calm under pressure.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I love being part of a team and working to improve with my team. I believe in hard work and leading my team with confidence and encouragement. Some of my strengths include quick decision-making, consistent hands, and strong and positive leadership energy that keeps my team focused and connected.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I have played the upright bass in school orchestra for 5 years. I participate in youth group at my church where we get to do service projects in our community.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed resilience and grit through athletics, school, and community service. These skills have helped me develop the ability to work with different personalities and be a leader. Off the court, I work hard in the classroom and am committed to maintaining strong academics in honors and AP classes.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I faced challenges when an injury temporarily kept me off the court. The recovery process taught me the importance of patience, mental toughness, and supporting my teammates even when I couldn’t contribute physically. I attended all practices and games/tournaments to support my team. My time off the court helped my appreciation for my team and the work my coaches put in.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a school where I can balance rigorous academics in biology or pre-med with playing volleyball, while also being part of a campus community that feels welcoming and supportive. I want a place where I can grow both as a student-athlete and as a person.
