Katherine Arnason Katherine Arnason 6'1" | RS Mahtomedi | 2023 State MN – 6’0 | Mahtomedi
- Arnason has great length and is left-handed, which is a terrific combination for a right side attacker. She made some great contributions for Mahtomedi in 2019 and returns with more experience and enhanced skills to help the Zephyrs this next fall. She shows good footwork in transition to her approach while creating good momentum throughout her patterns. She will increase her effectiveness if she can develop consistency to lift with both arms and create better balance in the air. As she generates good torque at times, with the added elevation and balance she will also attack with more power and range with increased arm control. She is one to watch in the coming year as she has potential to be one of the better lefty attackers in this class.
Ella Christ Ella Christ 6'0" | OH Chaska | 2023 State MN – 6’0 | Chaska
- Christ has some veteran-like attacking skills from the left side. She gets her feet to the ball well, especially on her last two steps, which allows her to jump on balance and swing aggressively at the peak of her approach. She is strong in her upper body as well and can hit with good power and generate pace off of her arm. Another great attribute is that she makes great adjustments when needed as she can score off speed or with placement based upon the opponent’s defensive positioning. She was a key element for Chaska’s offense in 2019 and is part of a corps of attackers that will return to once again lead their point scoring.
Sydney McDaniel Sydney McDaniel 5'11" | OH Breck | 2023 MN – 5’11 | Breck
- Another left-handed opposite in this group of attackers, McDaniel has big upside to her game. She is athletic and jumps well with quick lift off the court. Her arm mechanics when hitting display good speed and some natural torque. When on time she can get ahold of the ball well. With improvement in her timing relevant to the tempo and location of the set, plus more consistency in getting her right arm in the air for more balance, she has potential to become a top prospect in this class. Defensively, she shows good eyework followed by strong press action over the net when blocking. The Breck product should provide good balance to some of the other pieces they have coming back for 2020.
Mikayla McDougall Mikayla McDougall 6'0" | OH East Ridge | 2023 State MN – 6’0 | East Ridge
- McDougall is strong and can generate points from the left side. The East Ridge product was taking big swings for her Northern Lights team this club season. She has a great foundation in her approach work with momentum and timing to be able to contact at the top of her jump. At this point in her career and among other 2023 prospects, she shows some of the better ability to swing aggressively both in- and out-of-system and from wherever the second contact is coming from around the court. She has court awareness and good upper body control to strike the ball well, which helps her to generate some good power at times. With East Ridge returning the bulk of their offense around the court from a year ago, McDougall may be one year away from being their next big impact player although she has skills to contribute well now.
Mari Ryberg Mari Ryberg 5'10" | OH BOLD | 2023 MN – 5’10 | BOLD
- Ryberg helped her BOLD team to a successful season in 2019. As a freshman pin attacker for the Warriors, she saw a lot of offensive opportunity. Although she may not generate the pace and power at the same level as some of her 2023 peers, she is a consistent attacker and does not make many mistakes. Ryberg gets her feet to the ball and will swing aggressively when on time, which typically produces good results. She also showed good versatility last season to be able to swing from both the pins and the middle at times. BOLD has some other younger offensive leaders that will return in 2020 that with added experience and skill development should help them compete well again this coming season. Ryberg should once again be a big factor in their overall effort.
